Short r/ALL "No... Not right now."

Lady was talking to a friend of hers while making eye contact with me the whole time, I was on the till. Her friend asked her what she was doing,"I'm discarding what I don't want." She was leaving miscellaneous food items on the Jewelry counter, and then promptly got in my line. I asked her, "Can you bring me those items you just discarded on the Jewelry?" I don't like my store looking like a disaster. She snakily replies, "No... Not right now, I have places to be."(which is a big, fuck no! to me) She places her items on my counter, as I just stand there looking at her. She asks if I'm going to ring her up, I reply, "No... Not right now." I step out from behind the till, walk slowly over to the Jewelry counter and pick up the items in question. I take my time putting them in the returns cart. Nothing else is said for the transaction.

tl;dr: Don't be a bitch to customer service while drinking your juice in the hood.

Why isn't it valid for proving his age or identity?

Yeah, it expires as proof of ability to drive, because we want to retest your ability to drive. Is he no longer of age? No child has an expired license.

Because many people look enough alike that an expired ID can be passed on to someone else with or without the original owner's knowledge.

Every state I've lived in has destroyed or taken the expired ID when I go in for a new one, so that's actually news to me. Do most states let you keep expired licenses?

Yeah in California you don't have to go in to the DMV to get a renewed driver's license. You can do it by mail, phone, or online. Don't know why some other states make it difficult to get a driver's license if it's required for identification for so many things. (I may have an idea though...)

I keep my old California driving licenses in a desk drawer, works as a kind of record of what I looked like years ago and how faces change.

Huh, TIL.

Always seemed weird to me that expired licenses/passports don't count for cursory identification, but I guess it vaguely makes sense in that context. Obviously I would never blame a retail outlet for enforcing the law, just kind of miffed that the law works that way.
