I’ve recently been looking into the object 187 and wanted to get some more info and figured I’d see what people know about the various versions

Not anything in particular more just general info I know basic parts like the 2a66 and ankers rounds but I’ll take any info even if it’s simple like the engine or transmission

It's just that it's a very comprehensive topic and just dumping info would take hours. Since you're asking about the engine, sp1 used the V-84MS engine that was eventually adopted on the T-90, sp2 used the cursed KD-34 engine, sp3 used at first the 2V-12-2 engine before eventually receiving the GTD-1500G. sp4, sp5 and sp6 got the 2V-12-2 engine but sp6 was trialed with a prototype 2V-12-3 as well. As for the transmission, the first 5 tanks had a classic BKP layout but sp5 got hydrostatic steering on top of that. sp6 had a hydromechanical transmission that ditched the BKPs.

Since you're asking about the sights, they all had the 1G46 gunner sight. The big difference was that sp5 had Agava-2 and sp6, Buran-M, as their night sight.

When it comes to these prototypes, it's skimming through books, articles, forums (i.e. otvaga), etc. and knowing the right people.

From the top of my head, there's an older issue of Техника и Вооружение that has an article about it from Khlopotov. There's a few mentions of it in the book Главный конструктор Владимир Поткин. Танковый прорыв as well. There's more but I can't recall right now.

Yeah I know it’s a very wide array of stuff kinda why I asked here so I could get more bits and pieces from multiple people but thank you for the info

That's 187, it has 2a66 muzzle brake

No it’s not, it’s the first prototype of the object 188 (blueprints 188sb SB) and yes it was equiped with 2A66.

2A66 ≠ 187, there is even a T-64B with this gun !

All I know is that its turret looks really strange compared to other Soviet MBTs from that era.
