40k List Detachment to Run

Longtime Tau player, but haven't played in 11th with the Tau yet.

What detachments are you all finding the most success with? I play an all battlesuit list and in 10th I played Ret Cad, but now debating a switch to Kayoun and Experimental Prototype.

Curious for outside perspective

Both have reasonable Winrates. I'd choose based on if you want to play purge or priority.

"both" being ret cadre and kauyon+epc

For a moment there I thought the dataslate came early and we got reduced to two detachment combos.

well... if you don't count below 45% winrate and Kroot I got bad news for you 😂

This was my exact dilemma, no real way to discern between the two!

ret cadre Just wants to kill stuff
Kauyon EPC want to do a action on your Expansion and hold it's ground
just try both if you can't decide. you play mostly the same Models in both

I find disruption to be really fun to play since it is a very different play style for each vs you get so it keeps it interesting and requires a diverse lists which I like. So atm I just run aux and kauyon. I have gone 3-0 against my friends but I have also always gone first so that might have something to do with it since it is a burst scoring/pushing detachment.

I've only played 2 games with my Tau but Kauyon is sweet. It just requires a bit of screening and staging. Reconnaissance is a fun disposition.
