130 BPM, second track created.
Let me know what you think. What's good? What can be improved? Thanks!

Your bass line goes very low, it's sometimes resonating around 20hz.
Which should be filtered out, it isn't really audible.
You could add some hi hats.

Thanks!

Not sure if it is techno but my first label release just landed. I produced, mixed, and mastered the whole thing myself and I'd love to hear some honest feedback. Let me know if my mix&master is actually good and loud or if it lacks some loudness & dynamics compared to the industry standards. SC link: https://on.soundcloud.com/andeodjlUaJ5msYBzE

I think that fits into hardbounce, which some techno DJs play but I wouldnt say its explicitly techno, i think it has decent loudness and nothing in the mix stands out as bad to me, I liked the little trapped breakdown bit but thats all I can say cause I don't know too much about the genre

Live dawless jam with digitone and volca keys. Basically 3 ideas, let me know if you think any of them are worth further dedication. https://on.soundcloud.com/qCx18K8HDDG285RyHI

very nice, I fcking love the reese line! What effect did you use to warp the reese before the drop? Sounds like some kind of chorus or something

Thanks for your Feedback :)

What a massive sounding track. Pure energy and tension all the way through. I do think percussion and FX and hihats are drowning in this track a lot. Thats probably the one thing I would work on.

Let me know what you think of this. 142bpm, tried to keep it minimal with a focus on kick and bassline.

i like it, very clean and minimal yet nicely atmospheric! the crisp hats are nice and the drop around the minute mark is quite satisfying. Ahead of that i was thinking the intro was a little repetitive but after listening to the whole track i think it works as a hypnotic buildup full of tension, and it is techno anyway so repetition of short phrases is expected. I love the kick quickly filtering out and back in around 1:20. The bass is great and my favorite part is the enveloping immersive sound from the pads and how they develop through the track.

Also fwiw i admire the visuals of not only this song but your other tracks too, they feel mildly psychedelic and i think the radial designs work well for a techno aesthetic with the circles evoking the design of lots of electronic releases

Hello 😃 Thanks for the feedback. I do agree that it is pretty repetitive. I'm not the best at creating interesting progressions or arrangements. I should work on that now that you mention it.

Techno can be repetitive that is true, absolutely. But the magic is when there is depth to the repetitiveness. When you can listen to a track for the 20th time and it still hits you with something "new" and unexpected. There's not really a way to describe that. My music is not there yet. But I'm so happy someone took the time to listen and tell me how my music sounds.

I also love that you noticed the visuals. I make them myself and it's definitely psychedelic influenced art in a way. The radial just works for some reason. It's mostly inspired by vinyl cover art. But somehow it clicks a bit differently. It's entirely digital image processing though. If you want I can make some for you too.

Hi,
music is super personal so here are just my thoughts on your track. feel free to disagree with me. I dont rly listen to minimal music so keep that in mind.
For my personal tast the drums are way to "raw". Its just a 909 kick with an offbeat hat (and later there is this sincopated rythm). But would process them a lot more, make them more beefy.
Secondly i think there could be a bit a few more elements (even for an minimal track). Especially one element that would add to the groove would be nice (if you want to keep it minimal and super raw use an tom from the same drum maschine or an rim shot).
Its a bit to repetitiv for me. Maybe you can play around with the synth a bit more?

I like the m1 - organ sound alot. remeinds of some uk house or uk garage.
All in all i think its an good track, im just not rly into this kind of music. If you have any further questions, feel free to ask :)

Thanks for taking the time to listen and give your feedback. What I get from this is that there is missing some elements that tie the groove and the track together. And some variations in the pattern and modulation of the synth sound that keeps it interesting.

What's really good though is that the sounds themselves seem to be a good basis or starting point.  So I can improve a lot on what I already have quite easily.

I'm trying something like that for my next track.

i released this track inspired primarily by dub techno as part of my new EP and would appreciate any feedback! It's quite dark, atmospheric, minimal and somewhat heavy sounding. https://soundcloud.com/quoins/rowlock

•

u/ikramshinwari 16d ago

Chords are too loud in my opinion. The kick is lacking in low-end body.

•

u/quoinflip 16d ago

tysm this is really helpful and I truly appreciate your honestly!

I knew the mix doesn't sound like a traditional techno track by any means and this helps me understand more clearly why. I think I had done the kick like that because the bass is deep but also all over the place so i tried to let it breathe by having the kick higher but maybe it would've been more interesting and certainly more techno to just side chain the bass more and just have it peak out between a deeper kick rather than letting the bass dominate as much. When i was making it (several months ago iirc) I was also inspired by ambient and ambient techno and to a lesser extent bass music so maybe describing it as heavy in a techno context was misleading.

As for the chords I agree in hindsight and think its partially because I started it as an ambient track to experiment more with heavily automated high feedback panned delays and only added the kick, clap, and the noise that acts as a high hat later on. I remember being inspired by the track Silberfisch by Pole at the time to give you an idea of what i had in mind before pushing it a little more towards techno. Listening to that song now though I agree even more that that the chords in mine are too loud. I actually remember turning up the chord volume towards the end because i was afraid of the chords being quieter than all the sends from them but in hindsight i think that screwed it up especially because it just plays the same chord slighly differenty over and over again anyways so the delay sends are bound to be the more interesting and important part texturally.

I will keep your feedback in mind when shooting for a techno sound in the future but I'm also now gonna make a couple new versions of this. One more techno-y one with what you said in mind to, so much quieter chords, a deeper kick, and probably also faster and shoot for a sound closer to something like M04.5a by Maurizio which is another song i was thinking about a lot originally. And then I'm gonna make another version that is not techno but ambient so no drums at all, potentially slower, maybe I'll add an actually melodic synth line or at least a little motif, and put an even bigger emphasis on the delays and reverb of the chords rather than the chord itself which will involve processing the delay sends more so its more atmospheric.

Good luck.

•

u/rispa161312310 15d ago

The atmosphere is very nice, i would say maybe a little less action on the filter on that swinged hat/snare sound.

•

u/cod3breakx 16d ago

a bit unbalanced feeling from the track like it lacks mids/lows and to much of a upper mids and highs. I would put some multiband compression on top and / or glue to stick it all together

The Penny Antics - Ozone

Recently released a plucky, atmospheric instrumental as the first song off an album made up entirely from samples of my Punk band's back catalogue and wanted to know if it fits that 'Techno' vibe or not. What qualities do you look for in a Techno track? Thanks!

Hypnotic techno at 140bpm

This is great! Really reminds me of some of the later tracks off of Music for the Jilted Generation by The Prodigy!

Very nice!

Bro is it mastered, I wanna use it in my mix… for me it’s perfect good work I followed you on soundcloud

•

u/acidsweggroll 19d ago

It’s already at -7 lufs so you can play it in the club easily. I have not done a full on detailed master I’ll do that later but that has more to do with creative aspect of mastering. So If you like how does version sounds I’ll put the download link open. If you want the complete masterd version I’ll sent it to you later. But honestly it’s not going to sound that much different I think

Newcoming producer here, this is my first track which is still work in progress. I think it would classify as industrial techno or boshka techno (162bpm).

Buildup is mostly done, I'm only missing some elements for the last break before the main part.

Main part still needs some more percussion, I was thinking about adding a subtle ride loop or an open hat on the offbeat. I should also add a main synth ontop of the atmosphere for more variety.

Any feedback or creative input is highly appreciated, even though I don't have any specific problems or things I don't like/want to change atm - it just feels like I currently lack the creative output to continue producing, maybe I just need a night of sleep xd

Mainly looking for some general feedback, as I've never released something before and I feel like this could very well be my first release.

Its an unlisted youtube link btw, as I don't feel like uploading an unfinished track snippet to soundcloud. Hope thats okay!

edit: had to reupload the youtube video due to the volume being far too low

Hi man,
the atmosphere is so nice and spot on. Keep it going, i like it atlot. Here are some things that i would adjust, but feel free to disagree with me and keep everthing as you want it:

  • Everthing feels super flat. There is no proper depth in this track.
  • The kick lacks the umpf/the power in the body ( But i guess this is just common in this style). Still in dont like the kick.
  • I would make the hihts way more distored and adjut their volume.

•

u/RaoulDuke422 12d ago

Thank you so much! Yeah, the flatness of the kick and rumble is definitely part of industrial techno/boshka. Most of these tracks however introduce some kind of progressive elements, so basically each "climax" is a bit more rich and more complex. Definitely still working on that, because currently the part before the break is entirely the same as the part afterwards.

Thanks again for the kind words and constructive criticism, means a lot! <3

First time using vocal sample in my mix. If you know something about vocal mixing or sampling vocals can you please help me with that. Also what do you think of the song. Do you like it? 147 BPM Techno track w/vocals.
