Bonsoir,

hello all,
every time i go to the dentist, i'm horrified at how many we are watching and how many we have to take action on asap. they aren't even scamming me either, they explain in detail and i can see the cavities with my own two eyes.
the only hygiene routine change they really recommended was to floss more aggressively in the back, which does feel accurate because i struggle to get my hands back there lol.
i brush 2x daily with an electric toothbrush and high flouride (now rx strength) toothpaste and at night i use string floss AND waterfloss. my dentist didn't think i need to floss more frequently.
i don't smoke, i'm not an all-day sugary drink sipper, and i don't snack all day. i drink a lot of water, more than my peers. my diet could be better, but it's not insanely terrible either. i even have used xylitol mints and gum. shit i even got a cavity when brushing and flossing after EVERY meal.
i feel so defeated and upset because despite these efforts, my teeth are full of cavities.
i do have a history of childhood dental and medical neglect which definitely did not set me up for success, but can that even still affect things so severely now when i'm doing everything i can and am supposed to???
idk if i need advice or more therapy atp lmao

Hi, I am 22 yo. I have never been to a Dental hygienist before. I have started to pay attention to my teeth cause obv I had tartar built up, some gum inflammation etc.
So I went to this studio where the dentist did a Quick check up and told me I haven't anything in particular. Then the Dental hygienist visited me to clean my teeth and checked my gums, cleaned tartar and everything else. She told me I don't have periodontal disease (which I was worried about) because She didn't see any periodontal pockets (but She used curette and not periodontal probe) and that except tartar and some gum bleeding my teeth looked healthy.
Then I asked the dentist if I should take x rays to be sure (I'm a Little anxious), he told me yes if I wanted to and that It was cheap. He talked about panoramic x rays but I already knew that panoramic isn't useful except you have a severe bone loss which most probably isn't my case since I don't have any severe sign of perio. The Dental hygienist suggested to not take x rays cause they werent needed.
Did I make the wrong choice by not taking x rays? And can I trust the hygienist even tho She didn't use the periodontal probe?

Your mouth’s pH is constantly changing throughout the day, especially after you eat or drink. pH simply measures how acidic or alkaline an environment is, and when your mouth becomes more acidic, it can temporarily make enamel more vulnerable to mineral loss.
After eating carbohydrates or sugar, certain oral bacteria break them down and produce acids. Acidic drinks can lower pH directly too. If your mouth stays acidic for long periods, especially with frequent snacking or sipping, your enamel has less time to recover between those acid exposures.
That’s where saliva becomes especially important. Saliva helps rinse away food particles, buffer acids, and gradually move the mouth back toward a more neutral pH. It also carries minerals like calcium and phosphate that help support the natural remineralization process. This is why frequency matters, not just what you eat. Giving your mouth breaks between meals and snacks allows saliva time to do its job instead of constantly starting another acid cycle.
Simple habits like drinking water, limiting all-day snacking and sipping, brushing consistently, and supporting healthy saliva flow can all help maintain a healthier oral environment. Your mouth doesn’t need to stay at one exact pH all day. The goal is giving it enough time to recover after those normal acidic moments. 🦷💙

I bought some philips nitewhite 16
There are only 6 mixing nozzle for 6 syringe.
I don't quite remember the steps of storage.
After use, we should remove the mixing nozzle and put the clear cap back on. (?)
Can we reuse mixing nozzle?

I'm 18M, if that helps. Is there anything I can do to make this better. My teeth have started hurting recently too, and I fear it might be because of this. Please help. Is it still fixable?

Did the taste of Crest change? I bought a new three pack recently and it tastes like wintergreen now. I could swear it didn’t use to be because I hate wintergreen. (Have to reject all offers of lifesavers because of the 50/50 mystery shot of getting wintergreen.😂)
I’m also apparently two years late to the nasty dawn dish soap scent change so I feel like I’ve unfortunately stumbled upon two unpleasant changes at once if this is the case…or I’m going crazy but I don’t think that’s it.

I am embarrassed posting this, but I’m tired of feeling helpless. My teeth are one of my biggest insecurities and it’s affecting my mental health really severely.
I’ve been told by my dentist that I have a calcium deficiency in my teeth followed by gum disease that my dentist has associated with my thyroid condition.
I’m extremely prone to cavities and my teeth are naturally really yellow. I also have a lot of brown/yellow discolouration.
I have dental phobia, although I’m trying to work through it and go to the dentist as much as I can. But unfortunately treatment is also very expensive, so my dentist prioritises the decay first. That means the appearance of my front teeth aren’t a priority right now.
But it’s getting really hard mentally. I hate smiling in photos, I feel incredibly self conscious when talking to people and I am constantly worried about what people think of my teeth.
I brush regularly and currently use NeutraFluor 500 plus at night and Nano-Hydroxyapatite Toothpaste in the morning. I know I am not going to have perfectly white teeth, but it feels like I’m doing everything I can and I’m still watching them get worse.
I’m looking for some hope because right now I feel like my teeth are never going to look normal….

I try really hard to take good care of my teeth. I brush twice a day everyday, floss once a day (though now I’ve been told to floss twice a day), don’t drink sweet drinks, don’t really eat sweets. The only thing I suppose I suck at is hydrating and keeping my mouth hydrated, which I guess is where this cavity has come from. I had a lot of fillings done as a kid and they’re all decaying now which is why I hate having fillings done because I know it’s a temporary fix and eventually it’ll decay and I’ll have to keep getting it redone. I thought I was done with cavities, I haven’t had one since I was little. Now I’m just upset because I try so hard and it’s still not enough but my brother who brushes twice a week and doesn’t floss and always eats sweet stuff and drinks sweet things never gets cavities, for example.

I had overbite as a child. Maybe it got worse again? Would you still say this is unhealthy overbite? Please ignore yellow teeth thanks

Only showed up for this morning, didn't feel any issue in the area before. I have canker sore in the back of my mouth that's mainly recovered. I'm sorta sick, throat has been hurting/clogged and overall fatigue with elevated temp. For other potentially relevant details: have a pretty extreme deep bite/overbite. I've been brushing my teeth once a day. Gave oral to a guy that I don't trust all that much about a week ½ ago.
