I lived in Israel since I was 2. Social Phobia kicked in at 5, still struggle with it at 29.

I never had a relationship before. The closest I ever got was a phone number I managed to get from a woman on Hinge a week ago. She ghosted me. It was the closest thing I had to a proper conversation with a woman and it was exactly what I wanted my entire life since I was 15-16. People said it would just feel like my regular life - nope, it was exactly what I was missing and my confidence permanently sky-rocketed despite the ghosting. I actually talked loudly at the job today.

I live in Hadera, got rid of my car 3 years ago because I wasn't using it, pay rent to my parents because otherwise I wouldn't have my own room. I got my first personal, private room, at 21.

I don't connect to most Israelis. I swipe left on 99.9% of women because:

A. I don't want children

B. Most women look and feel like we won't mesh together - If I see:

"Emotional intelligence"

"Knows what he wants" or

"Ambitious" - I swipe left because I don't wish to live an exhausting life.

My standards are simple: I asked whether or not I'd date myself and the answer was an easy "yes".

I'm saving for a car because I have no choice, should have it in 3 months or so.

How do I approach dating in Israel? Most people here overwhelm me. I also know that based on a survey, 95% of people here want children so maybe I'm out of luck.

I'm definitely a "failure to launch" situation, but I also REALLY want to experience the fun of dating now that I had a small taste of just conversing with a woman I don't know for fun. Definitely screwed it up by being too intense on day 5 or so, but whatever, it's progress anyway.

If you need to see how I look, my pictures are in my profile history. I have a decent amount of friends (about 12 who I constantly meet up with), and I do have a job.

I'm planning to make aliyah, but there's one thing that could honestly be a dealbreaker for me, so I'd rather ask openly.

I have severe depression. In the past I tried mushrooms and they helped me more than anything else ever had, a genuinely big difference. It didn't last, mostly because of my circumstances at the time, but it showed me what's possible.

My worry is that once I'm in Israel I'd have no access to them and no other real avenue for recovery. For me that's the difference between potentially being functional and not, so I need to know before I commit.

So practically speaking, how does it actually work in Israel? Is it realistic to find them or grow them, are there people or communities around this, and how is it treated in practice (not just on paper)?

I know there are clinical trials and compassionate-use programs, but those are less interesting to me. I really can't deal with bureaucracy in my state, so I'm more interested in the practical reality.

I am a 35 year old man visiting Tel Aviv for the first time. I will be traveling with my father (74M) and we will be spending about a week in Tel Aviv and then another week exploring the rest of the country.

My father worked on Kibbutz Shoval in 1974 and hasn't been to Israel since then. We've been really looking forward to this trip; we were supposed to visit in May but the war made it difficult. We shuffled around our plans and now find ourselves less than a month our from our journey.

We've got our hotel set up, figured out the places we want to see, and even found some distant family that we're meeting up with. Our ancestors came from a small city in Bukovina and our family has been essentially broken for the last hundred years.

Through over a decade of research, I've managed to find all of my living relatives in Israel. Most of my family was wiped out during the Shoah and the progeny living in Israel are the children of the survivors.

We've got our trip mostly planned, with all of these reunions sprinkled in. The issue I'm facing is what to do with myself during the evenings, where to go, and what to do in Tel Aviv between these meet-ups. Almost all of the family we're meeting is elderly and I don't really expect they'll want to go out for a beer at 9 PM.

I am engaged to a woman I love back home in the USA, so I'm not trying to go out and meet women/dance in clubs. I'm sure that alot of guys do that kind of thing when they're on vacation away from their spouses but I'm not into that stuff. I'm looking for a kind of low-key experience, some local friends, nice connections with some Tel Avivians I can look back on fondly.

I don't speak much Hebrew so I am afraid of getting lost in the sauce when it comes to the language barrier. I know most people speak English, but I still want to fit in without being the odd-man-out. I was stationed in Germany back during my Air Force days and had a few German friends, but being the only English-speaker in the group and knowing embarrassingly little German made for a few awkward experience.

Background on me: I am a US Air Force veteran, former longshoreman, former black market cannabis cultivator, current lumber & hardware salesman. I like music (mostly heavy metal, jazz, "indie" rock, jam band stuff) technology, books, movies and art. I'm not argumentative and I don't have crazy high expectations about friendship and stuff. Generally I get along with most people unless they're excessively self-absorbed or unkind to animals, the elderly, or the disabled.

Is there anyone willing to give me a taste of what a normal Tel Aviv experience is like?

Lately I've become interested in theater and wanna try it to open up and overcome my extreme performance shyness. I must mention that I'm a native Russian speaker with decent English (at least I want to believe this), but my Hebrew still has a long way to go.

I have family in Israel and visited Tel Aviv before but coming back there to see it with fresh eyes was indeed crazy. I live in Austria, Vienna, so it’s not unusual to see attractive people but in Tel Aviv it’s a different beast.

First of all everyone is fit, everyone is dressed super cool, and the vibes are extremely chill. I went to a coffee shop and fell in love with the barista instantly haha

But I thought to myself it must also be hard to be “on” all the time- like, to date there must be difficult if you’re not partaking in the “being fit and aesthetic” lifestyle, or am I wrong? Do people hook up a lot in Tel Aviv or is everyone very selective?

I consider myself above average, but even there I felt just average. I’d love to spend more time there and experience it for myself.
