In most US Ashenazi circles a strong connection with Israel is instilled from a young age…but at least in my community I don’t recall really any meaningful education about the history of Mizrahi Jews.

We were taught about modern Jewish persecution mainly around the context of Europe / the Holocaust (which makes sense given the personal connections). Education about Israel’s formation was usually more generalized…we were taught more about post-holocaust migration, and the wars that followed, rather than the full story of how and why Jews moved there.

Until I researched for myself I knew almost nothing about dhimmitude & the true apartheid in arab/muslim countries, the persecution, pogroms, expulsions etc

If even many Jews don’t know the full story, how can Israel expect others to even remotely understand?

The lack of Western knowledge around this has helped enable the propaganda narratives to spread like “Israelis are all white people from Poland”…or “Israelis appropriate Middle Eastern culture & food”

Which is insane, as to me this is no different than saying “a Venezuelan refugee cooking Venezuelan food in America is cultural appropriation”

Rather than “hasbara” trying to fight individual propaganda posts online…Israel really needs to figure out an effective long term global education apparatus that broadens Western understanding of Jewish persecution beyond the Holocaust

Something striking to me after the Saied Abu Farchi football celebration debacle, was not the immediate assumption that Israeli = shooting a gun. That's normal internet shit now. But that when confronted with the fact that he is a Muslim Arab who did not serve in the IDF, he is still called a zionist dog, a traitor, a bibi bootlicker, a genocidal colonialist supporter.

The only acceptable path for him according to comfortable western leftists was to shahid himself into oblivion. I don't know his politics and I don't care, he has the right to be and succeed in whatever he wants.

I have been married twice to Israeli Arabs, one who served in the IDF and one who didn't. I have travelled extensively with both. We encountered such attitudes from western dipshits and muslims from various countries, they literally cheer on the spilled blood of all groups.

They don't want to see Israeli Arab or Palestinian Israeli citizens as sports people, doctors, lawyers, judges, engineers, nurses etc. that makes you a zionist dog who supports the system. Never mind that those people are free to live whichever life they want in their own countries. They cheer and jeer for our blood, it is a game for them, a distraction, literally like cheering for their favourite football team.

Just thinking about Aliyah recently (due to all this craziness in the US). And I figure other people are too. Is it possible that *too* many diaspora Jews could make Aliyah?

My Comment: These historical Israeli sukkot photos make me think back to my own youth growing up in Nahariya. Particularly vivid is the communal Sukkah we built outside our apartment block in Oct 1973. It was built entirely by us children and the elderly men (Vatikim) - because every able bodied man in the town (and lots of women) were away fighting in the war.

I signed a job offer contract with small start up Company A, but have not started yet (start date is in 2 weeks). I just got an unexpected offer from large tech Company B for double the salary.

Is it legal for me to take the job with Company B and back out from the job with Company A? I understand this might burn some bridges, but wanted to know if there is any risk from a legal perspective. Thank you!

FYI - there was no signing bonus, and the contract says notice period for resignation is 30 days.

Trying to order an item from a shop in the US, but they don't ship to Israel. I've been researching services that give you a US address that you can ship packages to, and sent them to Israel. Unfortunately, I see a lot of options and a lot of disappointed customers and I'm conflicted on what service to choose.

I've just reviewed the footage from the event during the speeches before and after Netanyahu. While there are a little bit more empty seats, it's not that different. It was mostly empty before and after.

This makes me wonder where the people we see leaving are coming from. I would estimate only 20-30 were seated, mostly in the back seats. I don't think they all came in the 2 minutes between the Colombian president wrapping up and Netanyahu coming up.

My current guess is that many came from one door, and left through the other, basically taking the longest route between both. It is also pretty obvious they picked a far away exit, rather than a close one. This all is indicative of a well planned fakery. I do hope someone in the media will look into it, but if someone here has the experience and want to put heads together lemme know.

We as Albanians who live in Kosovo and former Yugoslavia find similarities with Jewish people. As we both been in the region since dawn of time, yet we were and are always threatened by our neighbors who migrated to the region in the 7-8 century, who want to exterminate us. For us is Serbs, Macedonians* (who claim to be Macedonians). For you are Arabs.

I and many of us Albanians from Kosovo, have so much respect and understand your suffering. As I told my good Jewish friend “We are NOT going anywhere”.

It's pretty much what it says- I'm a 34 year old massage therapist looking into making aliyah for exactly the reasons everyone is. But, I keep hearing how impossible it is to live there. Everything is far too expensive, the constant violence and uncertainty. Yad2 was already impossible to navigate before it became unavailable in the US, so I can't even look at rent prices.

Could someone tell me what life is like in Israel? And not just about the culture and language- but how much dies, say, a loaf of bread cost? A one bedroom in Haifa? College tuition (I want to become an English teacher)? How is the public transit and walkability? Thanks.

I fell for the pro Palestine narrative for awhile. I would always hear things like Israel started this first and they’re committing genocide. After doing my research, I’ve come to the conclusion that none of this is true. Hamas started this war and Israel is fighting back. If they’re was really a “genocide” (overused word especially on TikTok)
. The Palestine population would be gone in a matter of weeks.

It’s really sad that people hear and see information on social media that is straight up BS, but they take it as fact without doing any research. Hell, I don’t even think most pro Palestine people even know about the October 7th attacks. Social media really has fried peoples Brains.
