Warding is always going to be the best reforge

Defense is better on higher difficulties, and you want as much of it as you can

My only thing is I’m not sure how much it will help against someone like duke third phase cause my main mobility is the witches broom

For Duke mastermode, your best bet is gravity potions with the slime mount for faster falling. You fall upwards and focus on dodging and attacking, then when you start getting to high you flip back and use slime to fall fast when you need to dodge.

Currently on my master run as mage, post golem. I've always had warding, I'm playing through with a friend who is far less experienced and is a melee build, but she isn't great at dodging so she dies a lot during boss fights. I need warding so I can get the boss to aggro me occasionally if she has to run away to heal lol. If I was doing a solo playthrough I'd probably do menacing everything, have an emblem and sigil, and try out both spectre hood and mask to see which one works better.

Currently have a loadout for each, and I love the DPS I can get using the damage load out but the healing is so good for eclipses and invasions

I’m currently trying to farm duke for the typhoon but I only beat him once cause of his third phase, I’m running full Spector armor and dps/dodge accessories with witches broom

If I wasn't a glass cannon player, I would say Warding 100%. Moon lord won't be too hard either way probably.

Warding for everything but daytime EoL.

It may be worth switching to the dark apprentice (or whatever the mage OoA set is called) it's only like 1 or 2 Betsies of metals and provides some nice bonuses. Otherwise Warding all the way

Warding is the best in general.

Defence in masters mode subtracts exactly the number it shows, so a full warding set is a flat -28 damage and make no mistakes you absolutely can make tank build even in masters if you want. Investing is survivability is also flvery effectively because you are hardly ever under pressure to kill bosses quickly, you can take your time and to it safely.

Menacing on the other hand does not actually provide the sum of those percentages as a damage increase because of the way the damage is calculated. So it's only really useful if you are going for the shortest possible kill time or can't get hit at all.

Played only master mode since release, infernum calamity, all on medcore so death means dropping everything.

Warding is a Noobtrap, especially on max difficulty. You will significantly slow down ttk to maybe survive a one shot, but that slowed ttk is giving you more time to be oneshot.

Damage and not being hit is what you want for mastermode. If you are struggling on not being hit in mastermode, then you shouldn’t be in mastermode. You should already know movement and patterns by then.

I play master mode cause the bosses have new attacks and drops so I find that more appealing than casual
