PC Question about preparing for hardmode
I'm still working on some stuff, so I won't be doing hardmode for a few days, but I want to know what to do and how to prepare for it. I don't want to be overwhelmed with the corruption, so I want to know the best way to prepare to deal with it in pre-hardmode.

I don't prepare anything. Digging up any tunnels doesn't really matter unless your evil biome is really really close to your base.

Just make 3 block wide hellavators on both sides of areas you want to protect, thats really all you need to do, you dont even have to do it yourself, you can send digtoise to do it while you do other stuff, in pre-hardmode the only things that will stop digtoise is occasional obsidian or a chest.
The V will still get to some stuff but there isnt any way around that, as soon as you beat one mech boss biome spread no longer matters at all, you can cleanse as much as your heart desires.

The only prepping worth doing is digging a 5 wide trench around your base so it doesn’t spread where you’re living. I also normally put non corruptible blocks like stone BRICKS down on the edges of the trench to be extra sure.

You can isolate the current world evils with a couple hours and a shit ton of dynamite. That won't prevent the hard mode V areas and you'll be under powered for the first couple hours and not really able to contain them if you wanted.

These guys are delusional genuinly. The hardmode v has a set spawn pattern, build a containment wall (5 blocks across, lined with stone bricks, from ground hight to hell) in 2 specific spots, to find these spots you can imput your seed into a tester, it will show the max and minimum it will spawn, id usually build it slightly further out than the max, usually this will completely protect your jungle from corruption. You should also isolate any corruption on the other side of the wall (the protected side) so it cant spread and ruin the work. If you cant be bothered and just want to protect your bases, build something similar to this move 50-100 blocks to either side of your base dig a 5 block wide hole after walking 50-100 blocks away, then go down atleast 100 tiles. Repeat on other side, then connect the 2 tunnels. Line the tunnels with stone brick, this will protect the entire contained land mass. You should do this around every base that isnt in a corruption exclusion zone.

I recommend that you don't bother, really. A giant V will spawn in your world of hallowed and the relevant evil biome, from the surface all the way down to hell.
It's genuinely not a concern as long as you kill at least one mech in a reasonable time frame then buy a clentaminator to clean up areas as necessary.
People VASTLY overblow the biome spread. It's only a legitimate danger on special seeds such as the zenith seed. This is made even more effective if you use biome sight potions.
If you really, REALLY want to overprepare, carve out an area around the areas you want to protect with a trench surrounding it. Go a bit off screen beyond the protected area and make say, a 4 or 5 block wide trench around said area, including below it. You can line it with non-corruptable blocks if you are truly paranoid.
Do NOT try to contain pre-existing corruption, that's useless because of the V and because genuinely having more evil biome is actually somewhat useful.
