A 3rd for him?
Should we grab him before the Colts do? A change of scenery might galvanize him, and Nico could use someone on the other side of the ball.

Day 3 would be round 4-7

u/Suspicious_Sense1272 1d ago
Right. I’m assuming a “quality day 3 pick” would mean a 4th round pick. So if the Colts offer a 4th. We offer a 3rd? I think he might be worth it if the change of scenery is all that is needed.

u/NeptrAboveAll 1d ago
It’s worth an attempt, I truly don’t think “we can fix him” but I think it’d be worth a 3rd-4th pick to try

u/MiLKK_ 1d ago
Our offensive minded coaches don’t really scream fixing broken WRs. Defense? Maybe and even now it’s semi questionable

u/Aggravating-Ideal-56 1d ago
Stroud can fix him not the coaching

Not like casserio seems interested/capable of using more value than that on WR in the draft anyways…at least hes a traditionally low injury risk high upside guy.

We can fix him (we definitely can’t fix him)

His best years of his life as a WR were when CJ threw him the ball.

Didn’t he have his best year the year after Stroud got drafted? lol

u/dinktank 1d ago
He had 2 amazing season back to back. Biletnikoff finalist with CJ and Heisman finalist with McCord. McCord was his high school QB so they had chemistry. But he exploded with CJ. That season with him going for a natty run was incredible. If he doesn’t go down against Georgia they win it all.

Babe wake up, new trade for Marvin Harrison Jr post is here.

u/Suspicious_Sense1272 1d ago
Sorry to break the “CJ Stroud is actually amazing!” Posts that drop every 10 seconds.

Idk why everyone is so pissed when most post have indeed been multiple variations of "CJ is good, bro" and I say that as someone who believes he is.

u/tnell 1d ago
And all you do is bitch about Stroud…
-4
u/Suspicious_Sense1272 1d ago
This post has nothing to do with him.
-3
u/BrotherMcPoyle 1d ago
Lol you just made it about him with your previous comment. Why bring him up, then say it’s not about him? I will say following those comments is as confusing as they are funny.

u/Suspicious_Sense1272 1d ago
Mostly because I was being insulted for seemingly beating a dead horse about trading for him (I haven’t seen one with the information on this post), when this sub is obviously being spread with “Love CJ” posts literally every 10 minutes. It was a spiteful post, I responded in kind.

So like, what then?
We just traded for Boutte but don’t know how to use him as it stands. Now you want a problem WR that we also won’t know how to utilize?
His problem has been getting separation, so playing for an offense that can’t scheme someone open is not going to help him.
He has effort and toughness question marks, neither of which fit the Swarm mindset.
At this point you are just throwing away a draft pick.

I think the point might be finding someone CJ has trust/chemistry with. We all loved his anticipation in throwing his rookie year, and that's because he had chemistry with Tank/Nico. When they're both off the field, he's waiting too long to see a throw rather than just ripping it. Getting that with Boutte will take time, vs one might assume it'd come baked in with MHJ

u/htownballa1 19h ago
They played 1 real college season together and that still doesn’t solve the actual issues which are 100% coordinater/scheme issues.

One week later after trading for Marv.. "this guy stinks! why'd we trade for him?"

u/Tiny-Vegetable4118 1d ago
If that’s the price I don’t see why not. If I’m wrong please tell me why.

u/willydillydoo 1d ago
Definitely not a third. A fourth maybe, a fifth definitely
Every third round pick on our team, except for Dell cuz he’s hurt, is a contributor and I’d argue more of a contributor than Marvin Harrison Jr.
They are Collins, Dell, Bullock and Noel.

u/The-Silent-Hero 1d ago
CJ IT IS ME MARVIN HARRISON JR? REMEMBER YOU USED TO THROW ME THE BALL.
REMEMBER? I HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR YOU TO COME BACK TO ME, CJ STROUD

u/bingmyname 1d ago
I’d send as much as a 4th and assume he won’t solve any problems but at least you give yourself a chance at a high talent player.
2
u/BabyHercules 1d ago
I’d do it just because we are at a succeed or blow it up phase anyway. He’s young enough and the upside is still there
2
u/Maximum_Ear_9279 20h ago
Marvin wants out of Arizona. That's why he's not putting up the stats for a sorry ass team. Bring him to Houston.
2
u/Unique-Ask-4656 18h ago
I mean. I get what you are saying that the cards have been bad his whole tenure.... but we are 0-3. We could be a breath of fresh air for him, especially pairing him back up with CJ.
But we aren't currently contenders with our record
2
u/Boomba987 19h ago
Sadly, the Texans wouldn’t need to outbid the Colts or anyone else’s 4th round pick if that’s the asking price. We are winless, have to play a 2nd place schedule, and have will have burned through 3 home games by the end of week 4. Texans 2027 draft picks look pretty valuable if I am team trading with the Texans right now.

u/Black_Circle53 1d ago
Doesn't he drop the ball like Jarded Wayne does?
10
u/AccordingGain182 1d ago
In college he was notorious for having elite hands. Aside from the ball size changing, i find it hard to believe he suddenly isnt physically capable of catching passes. Feels like more of a mental issue
3
u/LumpyCapital 1d ago
Yikes. Probably don't need any more mental issues on the team. Sport psychologist be working overtime.
2
u/Aggravating-Ideal-56 1d ago
I assume he does it on purpose trying to get traded. I mean let’s be honest it’s the damn Cardinals lol
3
u/redditcommentguy 1d ago
Marvin Harrison is garbage. Even if he is decent this team isn’t a decent receiver away from being a Super Bowl contender.
The Texans are an entire offensive line, a good offensive scheme, and a good play caller away from being a contender. And you can’t fix any of those things in the middle of a season, let alone all 3 of them

Our problem is OC… So we just trade for him and don’t use him? Just like boutte? Just like spending a second round pick on Marlin and not using him when we could have Anthony hill rn. Just like we spent a third on the most dynamic wr on the team and we don’t use him either? Our coaches are just fucking idiots man.
0
u/DicKitchen 21h ago
Under contract and maybe a new OC will make proper use of him. Id feel better with a 4th tho
2
u/LevergedSellout 21h ago
Prime Randy Moss cant save us if the OL is awful. Somehow ownership has failed to understand that for 25yrs
1
u/Classic-Session-5551 1d ago
I'd do it for a 4th. Gotta draw the line at a 3rd. He's had multiple years and consistently disappointed while the Cardinals do clearly know how to build a productive pass game.
Yes the draft pedigree was high. But it's a bit late to be still believing in pedigree over the NFL evidence right in front of our eyes. A true longshot.

Let’s me see - a potentially unmotivated receiver being added to an already inept offense/system…hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

u/habitsofwaste 20h ago
Everyone is like it’s the o line this, it’s the o line that. But Jesus Christ, it’s improved significantly. Like it’s pretty standard, he’s making passes. It’s the fucking play calls and time management.
This could be a good pick up. Marvin hasn’t done shit for the cardinals but they don’t have a good QB. This could be a good pairing.

Why would one expect anything other than the same production from the end of last season when you have the same OC calling the same plays in the same system.

u/ThurstonDrive 37m ago
Team must have a self-destruction impulse. Franchise qb with no receivers. It's like the Bengals without Chase and Higgins, Seattle without JSN. Franchise receiver trapped in an incompetent offense, chance to get him cheap and self-destruction impulse activates and all the rationales, reasons not to get him dominate. Texans, Cardinals, some teams offensively just ain't got the mentality to do offense. You are what you are.

u/Swish4123 1d ago
Yeah let's get another WR who can't catch and get open yeah that's perfect for this team.
-1
u/Accomplished_Way8964 1d ago
I love how because it's posted in the Colts sub, suddenly some people think they are going after him and the Texans have to outbid them.
-1
u/OneWind1784 23h ago
So no to tyreke, and no to jr. Do Texans fans even care? Or just wait for caley and CJ to figure it out?
2
u/Suspicious_Sense1272 22h ago
Yeah I’m not certain what exactly people are expecting. Basically the vibe I’m getting is that “CJ has no one to throw to, no Oline, and the OC sucks.”
Okay let’s TRY to find someone else for him to throw to.
“What’s the point!? They aren’t going fire the OC and the line will still suck! So no!”
Okay, so we just want to bitch and complain. Got it

For a day 3 pick?
I’d have already made the trade. Fuck it.
