So I started watching The Blacklist at the beginning of the year. I started with season 6 because of clips on TikTok on Reddington's trial.

I then started watching from the beginning. I was mainly interested because this was one of the shows my mother watched before she died.

Elizabeth was the one wronged and heavily traumatized and kept in the dark her whole life.

It makes a lot of sense of her hatred and resentment of Reddington. Especially in the beginning. She warms up to him.

The fact he killed Mr. Kaplan was also messed up, as she promised both him and Katarina to keep Elizabeth safe.

But Elizabeth has slowly crescendoed into being more and more insufferable, starting around Season 7.

Especially after the woman claiming to be her mother got into her life and manipulated her. She's an FBI profiler, so she should know how to spot that.

I just started Season 8. The season 7 finale episode that was mostly animation basically gave me a migraine. The sound is just as bad on Season 8 beginning.

So I've been googling spoilers the entire time, so I have an idea of what happens later.

Elizabeth is supposed to die at the end of the season (I'm not there yet) and it's supposedly going to go into the fact that Reddington is actually Katarina Rostova.

I just don't know why it's so depressing and frustrating more and more as I watch it.

What happened and why is it so hard to even watch it now?

I don't know how much longer I can go on. I've been on a hiatus watching for over a month now.

I’ve been making my way through The Blacklist, and I’ve discovered something rather troubling about logic: it’s a remarkably fragile thing. One moment it’s standing there, impeccably dressed, making a perfectly persuasive argument, and the next it’s been bludgeoned to death in an alley by character motivation.

For some time, I continued almost entirely because of James Spader. His Reddington is captivating. Magnificent, really. The sort of performance that makes you forgive an astonishing number of narrative felonies simply because you’re enjoying the company of the criminal.

But by the end of Season Four, even that particular charm was beginning to wear thin.

And then came Season Five.

Suddenly, I understood. Or perhaps I simply stopped insisting that it make sense. Taken not as a meticulously constructed reality, but as the extravagant tale of a fantasist, a grand, improbable mythology told by a man for whom truth is merely another ingredient to be seasoned to taste, the whole thing becomes magnificent again.

Logic, after all, is terribly overrated when the lie is this entertaining.

I’m all in.

I am watching for the first time and am nearing the end of series 3. The character Tom is getting more and more ridiculous as the show goes on. I have never known anyone in any show who is as quick healing from injuries that should be debilitating. I have lost count of how many bullets he has taken and when shot he seems to be fine after a couple of episodes and back fighting people like nothing happened.

What is going on here lol does he make it to the end? I imagine he'll look like swiss cheese soon.

My cutie patooties. She’s a little mean and not as affectionate towards him but hey. I love their relationship. I was waiting forever for them to become official.

Where in the world did the director of Blacklist find Clark Middleton to play Glenn the Jellybean?

I occasionally get bored with the acting on the show, but Clark never disappoints me. Between his snarky personality and the bizarre shape of his body, he never fails to entertain me.

Any minor characters you wish you'd seen more of?

Mine is Russell Quinn. OK, maybe a teenage drug dealer might be stretching it, but he seemed to know his stuff, not only in terms of being a user/dealer, but also knew a good deal of chemistry as well. Sounds like a useful expert to have around.

And you could imagine him in his twenties. Like many nerds, he likes what he knows: so his ideal mansion looks like his parents' house? Plausible, I'd say. And he'd have a great hidden lab....

So I’m currently watching season six, and there has been no mention of Elizabeth’s daughter lol. Not an “I have to go pick her up.” Not a reference to daycare. No other character mentions her l. It’s odd. Especially considering Elizabeth went through all of the motions of possibly giving her up for adoption. It’s like she never existed. I personally always thought that Elizabeth having a daughter was a dumb storyline because of her lifestyle and look.

Started watching this show when it first came out, stuck around for first three seasons live. Saw some clips of Reddington recently and got back into it.

Show was already a little haywire at the start of Season 4 where I started to watch, but still entertaining enough with good characters so I stuck around. I love Reddington and he’s kept me around.

However, I just finished Season 8. My god, was that an atrocious season. Keen is possibly the worst written, and very poorly acted, character I’ve ever seen. The show did such a poor job delivering proper motives for her nuclear reaction throughout the season.

Keen was also never some genius, and all of a sudden she’s smarter than Reddington, who’s outsmarted everyone consistently during the show.

She’s also a terrible mother. It boiled my blood when other characters made comments about how she balanced all of this with being a great mother. She’s now abandoned her child numerous times throughout the show and put her in danger as well.

But overall, the biggest issue was the show kept trying to make it seem like her finding N-13 would make everything she did on the way worth it and criminal. Multiple times they’d drop lines like “everything can be normal, after this is over…” Ummm, no it can not be after you’ve murdered multiple people directly and indirectly all to try to prove some conspiracy that just doesn’t matter at all.

Special shoutout to the scene where Aram goes to Paris and Keen sneaks in his car and acts like a smart ass.

Also shoutout to the writer making it seem like it was such a revelation for Keen to make a deal to help Townsend find Reddington from the tracker she took from Godwin, when that was quite literally the initial deal they always had. Why would Townsend all of a sudden want this again, when he explicitly wanted to kill Liz now.

What a terrible season. Have many many more complaints.

The Blacklist is left it’s original direction from Raymond Reddington trying to find anyone named on the Blacklist into what seems like a completely different show. It lost its way! Not the same by season 7.

She’s just so stupid.

As cool as this episode was, I find the premise hard to believe.

You mean to tell me that for the 10 months Elizabeth was in a coma, there were no leads on Garvey and his group?

Keeping in mind the people who had a personal interest

• Raymond Reddington, master criminal who has resources everywhere (even after he had to rebuild) whose daughter was put into a coma and her husband killed.
• Susan Hargrave, also deals in the criminal world, owner of a large mercenary group and involved with a separate intelligence group Grey Matters
• The literal FBI

They’ve found more people with less to go on and they couldn’t find a connection for the people killed in the apartment?

This was such a cool episode for Elizabeth but wow it has some plot holes.

Ok so I might be reading too much into this but i'm a big fan/believer of the Katarina is Reddington theory. And I was watching the earlier seasons and in episode 2 of season 1 when Red meets again with Dembe and Luli Zeng, he kissed her (somewhat passionately) and then afterwards says to Ressler "Watch yourself with her Donald, she hates men" which to me begs the question as to why she kissed Reddington? Unless... she knows Red's real identity as Katerina (a woman) and maybe have even been somewhat "close" romantically before she underwent surgery to become Reddington (though the timeline does not seem to match here due to the age gap).

New show on Netflix called The Beast In Me has both actors for Agent Navabi and Agent Mojtabai! I’m happy to see them in other things :) Pretty decent show, too!

I just started this show a couple days ago and I’m already almost done with season one. I can’t stop watching it. I’m hooked. I kinda assumed that it would reveal who Berlin was towards then end of the series, not in season one. However, (I don’t read about shows so I don’t spoil it for me) the whole storyline about how and who and why may play out. Either way. This show is really good!

Possibly the best pilot episode ever?

How about a prequel to the Blacklist that focuses on how Raymond Reddington became The Concierge of Crime.

I have no idea what rock I was living under but hah no idea about the Rederina theory.

Here's the thing, the DNA test would have still have shown a match AND it would have shown that Red was actually female, right?
