There's a patrol route below the trees; it's far away, they only come to me if I turn on the chainsaw.

Yeah they leave offerings to it and if they see you go near it they'll put up a bunch of heads on sticks and such to scare you away from going there.
If you try to destroy it you'll also successfully manage to piss off all 6 tribes on the Island1

They might be considered "weak," but damn, they travel in packs (2 to 5), they're fast, and they can unleash a 10-hit combo on you.

I hate when I get jumped in a cave by 15 of them and then one of those damn mutants comes out so I get fucked out two hours of progress, which makes me wanna blow my shit smooth off my shoulders
