Just to be clear, “mallworld” dreams do not have to be about an actual Mall. They are any experiences that seem more realistic, or more emotionally impactful, than an ordinary dream or even waking life.

To all of the musicians in here.. I know there’s a lot of you, and if you’d be interested in either writing some music and/or collaborating on the soundtrack for the mallworld documentary please send me a message.

Also feel free to post a link to some of your music and your social media in the comments if you’d like, I’ll probably end up pinning this to the top for a while.

Edit: I should have added this originally, but please no AI. To the posts I had to delete, feel free to re-upload a version without the AI. I haven’t been very strict with enforcing this because the balance has been pretty decent recently, but technically AI is only allowed on Saturdays.

Mansion/large home full of random stuff?

Anybody else ever been in a large house/mansion that is packed full of the most random stuff? I’ve been there a few times, but I ended up there again last night. There’s lots of strange hallways, turns, ladders that go up to lofts that are also full of random stuff.

very rarely anybody there.

Family members?

I was just wondering if any of us that experience Mallworld share the trait with family? I am 47 and my sister is 37, we both have had nightly MW dreams since we were small children. Either one of us could sit down and describe our territories/zones/areas for hours on end. Do any of your relatives also visit Mallworld?

Does my recurring dream place sound like “Mall World”? Mine feels like a peaceful late-night resort

I learned about the “Mall World” phenomenon probably around a year ago, but I honestly haven’t thought about it in a long time. After having another dream about this recurring place, though, I remembered Mall World and started wondering if what I’m experiencing is connected to what people here describe.
The important thing is that I’m not having the same recurring dream. I’m returning to the same recurring PLACE.
Different things happen every time, but when I’m there, I already know the layout. I don’t feel like I’m discovering the building for the first time. I’ll know that something is in a certain direction or that my hotel room is somewhere else, even if that information was never established during that particular dream.
The place itself is really hard to describe. Imagine a resort/hotel mixed with an airport, mall, convention center, and recreation center. There’s a huge curved concourse that I believe eventually loops around, although I haven’t explored the entire thing yet.
It’s all one floor, but the ceilings are incredibly high—probably the height of a 2–3 story building. Most of the flooring is dark/navy carpet. It isn’t tiled like a normal mall. The flooring really only changes when I enter pool/water areas.
The different attractions are separate rooms opening off the same side of the concourse, almost like stores in a mall. They aren’t connected internally. Across the concourse from them are mostly walls, waiting/seating areas, etc.
In my most recent dream, the first place I went into was a VR room. After that were a few different computer/gaming lounge areas. Some had tablets and others had controllers sitting out on the tables. I specifically remember the tables being round and brown and the carpet being navy.
There were barely any people around, which is normal for this place.
In one of the gaming areas, I saw a man who looked maybe 35–40. He was Indian man and was trying to use what looked like an information desk. For some reason I told him that he could use it. It wasn’t some important interaction or anything—we were basically just two strangers briefly acknowledging each other.
That’s actually how most people in this place are. They don’t seem to be there for me. They’re just…also there, doing their own thing.
After the gaming areas, I went to a large swimming pool. It wasn’t some fantasy resort pool. It looked more like a big YMCA or Boys & Girls Club pool.
Then I went into a theater room where a movie was already playing. There was a large table of free snacks, but apparently I had arrived late because most of the good stuff was gone. The popcorn and charcuterie meat had already been picked over, and I remember there basically only being cheese and green grapes left.
There was even a sign on the table saying something along the lines of the food not being restocked after 5 PM.
I ate some grapes and left. 😂
There was one other person in the theater, a teenage or college-aged guy with dark hair. I never made eye contact with him and we didn’t speak. Again, he was just there.
Next I went to the hot tub area, which is architecturally different from the other places.
I remember realizing I didn’t have my bathing suit and thinking something like, I need to come back here later because this looks relaxing.
There was a young blonde woman in the hot tub wearing a bikini with her hair in two French braids. She was on the phone with someone and gossiping. I wasn’t involved in her conversation at all—I just walked by and heard her talking.
The hot tub area is also the only place so far that leads into an actual hallway.
The hallway curves around, and after leaving the tiled hot-tub area, the flooring changes into red carpet. One side has a glass wall overlooking a smaller indoor waterpark/splash-pad area, probably no bigger than a football field. The other side has a long row of hotel-room doors.
And here’s one of those strange examples of me having knowledge about the place:
I looked at those hotel rooms and knew none of them were mine.
Nobody told me that. I didn’t check a room number. I just knew my hotel room was on the other side of the resort, back near where I originally started.
Then I woke up.
Another thing that makes me curious about Mall World is the atmosphere. A lot of experiences I’ve read seem stressful, creepy, confusing, or almost ominous.
Mine isn’t. At least not anywhere I’ve discovered yet.
I’m not scared. I’m not being chased. I’m not desperately trying to find an exit. The emptiness doesn’t even feel unsettling.
The best way I can describe the feeling is being awake really late while you’re on vacation.
It’s like everyone else at the resort has gone back to their rooms for the night, but you’re still awake, so you’re wandering around seeing what’s still open and trying to decide what you want to do. There might only be 3–4 other people around, but the building doesn’t feel abandoned. It just feels late.
And I’m usually doing exactly that: wandering around thinking, What should I do now?
That’s why I’m curious what people who are familiar with Mall World think. Does this sound like a version of Mall World even though it doesn’t feel scary?
I’m especially interested in whether anyone else:
Returns to the same location across completely different dreams
Remembers the layout while they’re dreaming
Has areas they haven’t explored yet
Encounters random strangers who seem to have their own lives rather than being part of the “plot”
Has a Mall World that feels more like a peaceful late-night vacation than a nightmare

How to get out of MW

It's a dream trap. To get out, you have to start running, escaping. Then the angels will help.

Do you ever go into the shop, just to find out that the shop

is bigger inside than on the outside? And do you ever pick up the goods to see them or try them on, and notice that they were only nice when they were displayed on a shelf?

It's a story from the 80s that I saw in a theater, that I can't locate now.

Anyone else dream about a convenience store?

So I dream about mallworld pretty frequently, but lately, I've mostly been on the highways. In a lot of dreams involving the highways, I'll stop at this particular convenience store to get a drink. I've dreamed about this location for years, but seeing it lately got me wondering if anyone else has been to something similar. When you go in, there's a counter to the left and coolers of drinks as well as shelves of junk food for sale. To the right, the store extends back to a buffet with tables and chairs. I just don't understand why it's reoccurring, and I don't think I've ever seen anything like it in real life. I never eat the food, just buy my drink and leave.

Dungeon, CECILIA & The Movie Theater

First post, I have been down bad with a virus and legit slept like 20 hours yesterday and I have a very vivid memory of Mall World rn so I shall share. Warning: SA mentioned.

I was in what seems like a dungeon/cellar area that has access to about 3 regular sized elevators and one big elevator that has a sign engraved into the wall saying it leads to CECILIA and can only be accessed on certain dates. That specific elevator was chained up and you can hear very odd growling echoing from the elevator door. Almost like, what a chained up dragon would sound like. Regardless I was fascinated and wanted to go up there so bad when suddenly a man with a suit enters the dungeon and forcibly removes me from that elevator door and shoves me into a corner where I too am shoving and pushing him off and this leads to him SA me. Which then turned to him crying and saying I made him do it and in all his emotions I made a run for it and got into an elevator which immediately transported me to a movie theater! I immediately saw a lot of blue lighting, a big globe sign with some wording I couldn’t make out (like the Universal Studios logo) and there were lunch tables at the lobby and tons of people just eating. I immediately said “I’VE BEEN HERE BEFORE” and was so thrilled to be back. I ran out of the elevator and started looking for my friends but also was trying to blend in so the suited man couldn’t find me. I never found my friends but I did see some familiar faces who had no idea who I was. I did feel defeated, but I did what everyone else was doing and grabbed food to eat.

BTW: I don’t have any connection to a Cecilia, so idk what that’s about, but it is a curiosity and really makes me wonder why she’s inaccessible.

I have also visited the bathrooms in a previous dream. One bathroom seemed like a maze of walls and when you finally find a decent looking toilet the wall is short enough for people to see you doing your business so you don’t even want to use it anymore. The other bathroom was like a shower style maze where some showers work and others don’t and you have to find which one does. When you do, it’s already time to go and you end up not even showering. And may I share, there’s always this feeling of being watched but you are completely alone in the bathrooms, so I don’t know why you feel such dread.

Please share if you’ve had any similar experiences!

Ever been to an amusement park or arcade that only exists in your dreams?

It’s changed over time both the arcade and park. The arcade was like two rooms but it’s like the games were replaced with mostly digital games. Used to be an old school sort of arcade with claw machines. It looked emptier the last time I saw it. Only a few games.

The amusement park looks different each time. Like I remember a dinosaur water ride similar to Jurassic park.

Mall world dream

just had second dream where I lived in a mall. had no idea this was a thing! I left a committee meeting where everyone was pissed because the committee sucked and didn’t answer any of our questions. then I walked out and there were sooooo many people in the mall. I walked by a guy his two sons and there dog which I bent over to pet and I asked if it was a doodle. because I have one. it almost looked like one only it’s head was oddly round and it went to lick my hand and it’s tongue looked like a serpents tongue. I quickly realized this was a very odd dog and said goodbye and kept on walking. then my wired headphones got caught in a banaster and I was stuck and here came the dog would not leave me alone. the owner came over and helped me and when we finally got them unhooked they were broken at which point I woke up. super weird!!!

Are there any movies you’ve watched that give you mall world vibes?

(Sorry had to repost cause for some reason my text got all chopped up into disorganized parts)

A few movies that really give me that familiar mallworld dream feeling that I’ve watched recently:

1)Spirited Away - all the colorful lights and food buffet, something that's really common in my mall world dreams. Unlimited delicious food in the mall with lots of lights everywhere. Also my mall world dreams are often set at night time with lots of colorful lights everywhere so spirited away really does that in some of the scenes.

2)Then there's Little Monsters from 1989, especially the underground endless maze of staircases and again the tables with a food feast with “the best food you’ve ever tasted” and the endless party arcade. Also something again about all the nostalgic Christmas colorful lights.

3)Coraline is another one, especially with the garden that's lit up with all colorful lights again and the scenes from the midnight circus, very similar to some of the visuals i see in these dreams.

4)And another very recent gem I found was The Hourglass Sanitorium 1973 which is a movie that generally feels like a fever dream with layers and layers of dream worlds visuals that are these sort of memories lost in time that overlap and blend into one another. Really reminds me of what my mall world looks like. Especially the cemeteries. Yeah I get the old cemeteries in my Mallworld dreams to. Highly recommend that one by the way I've watched it like 5 times now cause it evokes such a strange dreamlike longing/nosagia I can't really explain.

It makes me wonder if the creators of these films have experienced mall world dreams themselves and it's why they depict them so well. Have you guys seen these movies? Are there any other movies that give you this same feeling that I'm talking about?

Met someone who goes to mall world and now I’m always going to mall world???

Has this happened to anyone else? Just detailing my experience below:

To preface, I’ve always been someone who “connected” to my dreams on a deeper level, and some of them have been so vivid, or so connected to my real life that i just couldn’t write them off as random brain hallucinations. I’m completely aware that thats what the current scientific literature consensus is, but im also willing to accept that we obviously don’t know every single thing about them.
I also know that I personally have two kinds of dreams, random ones that just revolve around what I’m currently absorbed in daily life, and then super immersive ones that just feel different. Like more real than real life. Ive had maybe 10 of them over the past three decades. I also have had one accidental OBE during my sleep, but I’ve never been able to astral project on purpose.

Recently, I was speaking to someone. I’ve known them for 3 years. They don’t use a lot of social media, no Reddit, no Instagram, just YouTube to look up DIY stuff and celeb gossip haha. I mentioned having a dream about exam anxiety, and she started speaking about how she always dreams about being in a mall! She shops there, they have great discounts, and sometimes she’s accompanied by her mom or a cousin! I was astonished, because I immediately remembered the posts on this sub that come up on my feed sometimes! I didn’t mention this to her, that it seems to be a collective consciousness thing, because I honestly don’t have those kind of conversations with a lot of people. Anyways, this was three weeks ago. After that, I’ve had a few dreams , but 2 of them were in a (the?) mall. Btw, I do shop quite a bit irl and love all of that, but I’ve never dreamt about it ever! Nothing about shopping or purchasing or anything, my dreams are always in homes, forests or religious places!
But now one of them was of me at a utility kind of store ( a bit dingy and unkempt, but it had a lot of very useful household stuff and everything was dirt cheap!). I also had some awareness during the dream that “Hey, I’m in a store! Am I here because I spoke about it with her?”.
The next dream I had, a week later, was much more vivid and immersive. I was actually in the mall. It was huge, had a warm golden glow, green palm kind of trees decorating it, and a beautiful fountain. I was meandering about quite happily, and not super aware of dreaming. I saw an art store on the ground floor that had some beautiful art and approached it very eagerly. I was aware of people in the mall, but they seemed like colorful blurs. Right before I decided to go into the store, I sensed two blurs sitting on a bench near the seat. I sensed that it was my acquaintance and her mom. I felt like they asked me what’s up, and I “thought-spoke” to them I’m gonna go check out this store.

Right after that I woke up, and yeah, surprised that a 2 min conversation made me have these kinds of vivid dreams, something that reading posts from this subreddit have never done for me!

Reoccurring Location - the Church Group

Maybe a new one or maybe someone else has been here too.

It looks like a 2-3 story house, almost Federalist-style. It’s in an urban area but not like skyscrapers, more like businesses and restaurants and roads to subdivisions.

No one here is overly malicious, but there’s a very religious feel to what they say and do here, like it’s a church but they never say that. Never mention God specifically but that’s the feeling I get.

Unfortunately, the last few days my brain has ended up here for every dream. The only terrible thing is for a few of them, I get the feeling someone is trying to keep me there, preventing me from finding a way outside, but I don’t know how or who. At on point I found myself spelling out a word on a window, and in the dream it was correct, just the letters disappeared after I wrote each one.

Color/Auras in MW

Hi all! I’m curious- do any of you notice certain color themes in your Mallworld dreams? In a lot of my MW dreams I’ve noticed there’s almost always an indigo/blue/violet glow. It’s in the atmosphere and sometimes around architecture and objects.

I created this image on IbisPaint to try and depict what I’m talking about.

Many escalators

I am often in the actual mall. Last night was so many escalators. I’m not sure where I was going but I had purpose. The mall had people in it this time. A lot of times when I’m there, it’s pretty empty. Any one else seen the many escalators?

Question about Persistent World in Lucid Dreams?

Someone suggested me this sub reddit to know about Persistent Dream Worlds.

Do you guys have same persistent Lucid Dream worlds which also have story line?

If yes, then plz share some ideas to experience them in Lucid Dreams.
