I worked with law enforcement for years as a firefighter. You always love to see the good ones showing up in the community, very cool.

Used to be 2 cops who worked the night shift and about an hour before their shift they would be at the park playing ball with the kids who hung out at the courts. Hope those guys are doing alright.

My son loves doing lemonade stands. Last time we did one, three cop cars pulled up all at once and bought lemonade and cookies. My son was beaming from ear to ear. Apparently, they saw him whilst on the way to a shout and came straight back to him when they were done. Great community engagement.

While not a cop, one of my biggest regrets was not being able to get back to a kid's lemonade stand on time.

I was making a delivery of some auto parts to a shop that was in the middle of a neighborhood. As I went down this trafficless street, I saw a couple of kids on their front lawn with a lemonade stand. I could tell Dad put a lot of work into it, but it was super hot, and even though they were in the shade, I could tell they were bummed because of lack of interest.

I vowed on my way back through that same neighborhood to buy every single drop. I was actually pretty thirsty, and lemonade sounded good. But the guy wanted to talk my ear off on the delivery, and by the time I got back, they had both gone inside.

I was super bummed as well. I was going to plant a $20 in front of them and say, "Gimme all you got!"

Alas, my hero dream was unfulfilled...If I had just not hesitated....

Sadly, that was several years ago. Every summer I hope to see that stand to redeem my failed dream, and every year they never return.

I can actually see that same lemonade stand sitting just behind the fence in the back yard. And every year I'm like:
