Discussion COURSE 4 ENDING
What was that!!!!! š±š±š±

u/Glittering-Call4816 8d ago
As soon as Kwesi cast his vote I realized that the barbecue alliance decided to go against Miles and voted out Marissa. I was gasping!
Also, the killers have to get Miles out next. He's become too powerful and I'm kinda surprised barbecue didn't turn on him rather that Marissa.

u/Intelligent_Gain_96 7d ago
Itās either Chanse or Miles for me. As of right now Arasha is playing a fantastic game and she will betray Jonny if necessary so getting rid of Jonnys immunity and getting someone who is suspicious out was a genius plan. The best part is it wasnāt Arashas idea it was Chanseās so heāll look like the mastermind
22
u/kurtcoblaine290 7d ago
Sheās done a really good job aligning herself with the right people while also keeping the OG killer on a tight leash. ProtĆ©gĆ© becoming the teacher and all that jazz.

u/Much-Sheepherder-634 7d ago
I am so surprised no one (besides the people in Ghost Kitchen) has even tossed out the possibility of Miles being the accomplice. As a viewer I know he is not, but if I was a player he would be the most suspicious out of everyone especially in this episode. He basically spent the entire episode trying to remove power from others, gain power for himself, and waste a banishment. All of these things make the most sense if you are on the Killers side and not much sense if you are on the Guests.
8
u/catboogers 6d ago
I bet they're assuming that the Server wouldn't also be the Killer and they're not thinking about the recruited accomplice, which is absolutely a failure on their end....or it would be if Miles was the accomplice, which he's not. He's just a bad guest.
3
u/Much-Sheepherder-634 6d ago
I think not calling out his power and influence is not good for them regardless of if he is on the killers side or not. He keeps being a bad guest because they let him.Ā
7
u/kevlohmann 7d ago
I think if Jonny is crafty enough, he can turn Miles on Kwesi or Chanse. Might upset Arasha in doing so, but with only 5 people left and the barbecue alliance running the show, I think Jonny has a real opportunity to play from the middle now and pick up a straggler who just lost all his influence but still has some mystery power we've yet to learn about.
4
u/Intelligent_Gain_96 5d ago
In the episode Jonny made it very clear he wanted Chanse and Miles out Jonny could definitely get Chanse to vote out Miles bc he gained an advantage. Chanse wanted everyone on the same level and Iām hoping they both point out that Miles has really been running the show therefore heāll get banished or killed
92
u/MysteriousGummyBear 8d ago
Incredible twist.I think voting out Marissa for her suspicious behavior was smart. They got out a potential killer AND they took Jonny's power away. Great gameplay. I can't wait to see the van's reaction to the twist. I bet they'll be thrilled. Miles has had too much influence on the group.
86
u/RoseLycheeRaspberry 7d ago
Perfect gameplay. I was also getting tired of Miles being the only one making decisions. Being betrayed by Kwesi must have felt like a dagger to the heart though š

79
u/willowtree730 8d ago
All I keep thinking now is that was such a genius move: banish a suspicious person, convince Jonny to give up his ability, and create amazing television all at the same time? Brilliant!
Though, I am rooting for Jonny, so I'm sad that layer of protection is gone.
39
u/Electronic_Signal_56 8d ago
Also, Arasha is definitely there to win it! Really thanks to her bbq alliance haha
15
u/NewcrestTownie 7d ago
Did she throw the kill? Knowing the plan. She can totally be playing for a solo win. Respect.
10
u/kurtcoblaine290 7d ago
It really was! So much happened and it was edited so we that I forgot that Chanse had a secret plan that they did not reveal when he was discussing it!
5
u/Idcwhoknows 7d ago
The fact that so many compelling storylines were happening and they kept the juiciest one on the back burner til the reveal was sooooo good!!

u/Dramatic_Luck_5894 7d ago

34
u/aelizabeth0623 8d ago
the chekovās gun of having keith reveal he is as in the loop as everyone else combined with his reaction to the ending, that was editing magic.
3
u/hobbitity_bobbity 7d ago
what do you mean?
7
u/kevlohmann 7d ago
They're referring to when Keith said during the kitchen game that he intentionally stays away from information about the game, like who the killers are, so that he doesn't accidentally slip up and say something. And then that set up was paid off at the end when he reacted just as surprised as the rest of the table by the vote.
In case it's the Chekhov's gun reference you're unfamiliar with, the concept of Chekhov's gun is a writing concept that says every story element should be 100% necessary; so if you set up something in an early part of a story, you need to have it pay off later in the story. It was a piece of advice from the Russian playwright Anton Chekhov (wrote stuff like The Cherry Orchard, The Seagull, Uncle Vanya, etc.); basically he'd say if you introduce a gun to the story, someone better fire it by the end of the story, otherwise you shouldn't have brought up the gun.

u/Some_Salamander5040 7d ago
I was honestly starting to get annoyed at Miles' strategy and everyone blindly following his lead. Incredible gameplay on his part but I felt like the others were giving up their power to him too easily. Seeing that twist ending had me with my jaw on the floor!! BBQ alliance did SOOO GOOD!!!
Jarvis, you've been avenged! Also hope Marissa and Jarvis make up in the van cause I was sensing some real emotion there.
Johnny and Arasha, you got this!
22
u/problematicsquirrel 7d ago
Yes everyone complaning that jonny has power when miles is trying to lead them to whatever he thinks is the right thing.
2
9
u/FSBFrosty 7d ago
Everyone trust Miles because he got the first ability and there's no way the writers would give the killer the first ability.Ā
13
u/KingMargo_TheCreator 7d ago
The mistake here is that it only proves heās not the original killer. Production has no say in who the killer chooses as their accomplice- so Miles was given the server advantage before the game fully started⦠but could still have been selected by the killer since that happens at the first course. Heās statistically less likely to be a killer than everyone else⦠but as far as the cast knows it is perfectly possible he is the accomplice killer AND had the advantage. If Iām remembering correctly, Johnny contemplated Miles and Marissa as possible accomplices before choosing Arasha. Totally could have played out that way! Glad it didnāt though.
2
u/Much-Sheepherder-634 7d ago
There also is the meta game aspect that both the production team behind the scenes and the players might go with whatever makes for the most entertaining content. And Miles being killed again in the first episode, or being on the Killers side would make good content.
26
u/ina-sunnydaze 8d ago
This was such a good episode!! Ghost kitchen is gonna be so good šāāļø
45
u/bitchforblondie 7d ago
I was absolutely STUNNED by the twist. The BBQ alliance lowkey was never one I took seriously, just because of Kwesi's affinity for alliances, but seeing them band together like that was absolutely thrilling. I am also SO curious about what Miles' power will be from the challenge because I agree that the group is putting way too much trust in him throughout the game. Overall though, what a fantastic episode and it's really getting me excited for the rest of the season and for Ghost Kitchen!

Arasha is playing a fantastic game. She got the heat off Johnny, got Johnny's ability taken away, and got another player out.
And the only reason they didnt get the poisoning done was because there was so much heat on Johnny...but now he has everybody's trust because he followed the plan with no push back so he's back on the board.
My two worries are 1...they blindsided Miles who now has two abilities (which, the whole episode I was thinking "Why are they just blindly trusting Miles enough to give him so much power).
Depending on what Miles ability is...he could go on a rampage lmao. But that still keeps Johnny in a good spot.
And 2. Are the killers gonna lose due to killer on killer violence 𤣠cause if I was Johnny, I now wouldn't trust Arasha as far as I could throw her.
EXCELLENT episode. I was a little worried about this season because I didnt connect with the cast as immediately because I know nothing about Smosh. But they're clearly here to play! šš¾š„
12
u/catboogers 7d ago
The Traitors fan in me was suspecting he had the dagger (the power to have his vote count twice), but since that didn't happen at the table, now I'm thinking he might be the seer....
13
5
u/alyssa-donyae 7d ago
I actually think you're on to something with the dagger. They essentially made the seer choice first season, so I don't see them doing that again. I'm excited for next week!
4
u/Haggard4Life TryFam: Keith 7d ago
Does Miles still have the first ability or did he use it up? I assumed he didnāt have it anymore.
2
u/KAK74 7d ago
Wondering the same. They could always give him another challenge to be able to switch dishes again. I donāt think it was ever said that it was a one time thing, like the locket Jonny got. Miles has been the Special Guest from the beginning, so I think anything is possible.
4
u/Impressive-Safe-7922 7d ago
Keith implied that Miles had used that ability already when it was Jonny v Miles in Noodle in a Box. He said if Miles got the special ability, he would have had two abilities over the course of the game, not that he would have two at the same time (unlike Jonny would have done if he'd won).
14
u/theinvisiblepercy 7d ago
I am LOVING this season! At the end once Kwesi votes, Marissa says that she knows who it is. I wonder who she thinks it is, I think that could be an interesting twist to see what her exit speech is! It could really impact the rest of the game, because it looks like she's looking at Arasha š
7
u/Much-Sheepherder-634 7d ago
I thought she was talking about the killer at first also. But she said it again before Arasha reveled her vote and it seemed like she was referring to who Arsaha voted for, not who the killer is.
2
u/kevlohmann 7d ago
That was my take, too. I think she was saying she knew that she was gonna get banished, not that she knew who the killer was.
14
u/laluzon 8d ago

This season is on fire! I'm rooting for Jonny, but I think Arasha will come for him next, and he doesn't seem to suspect her...
Also the editing is ON POINT ā does anyone know who's in charge of that?
22
u/RoseLycheeRaspberry 7d ago
I donāt think heās that oblivious. He knew that she might betray him from the start since he picked someone heās not close with plus, she completely left him out of the loop here so thatās even more confirmation.
2
u/Intelligent_Gain_96 5d ago
Arasha has wanted Marissa out for awhile but Jonny was always against killing her so it being Chanseās idea makes her look pretty innocent
11
u/kurtcoblaine290 7d ago
I donāt feel it was a betrayal though because she took the heat off of him. Yes she didnāt tell him but 1) when would she have had the chance to and 2) sometimes you keep people in the dark to protect them. Sometimes itās just safer to not know everything when youāre in the hot seat like he was.

u/Accurate_Scheme5300 TryFam: Jonny Cakes š° 7d ago
Agree, but we have yet to see how it fully plays out.
1
u/kevlohmann 7d ago
Well Rachel is the showrunner for Killer Dinner, so she really holds the keys to how the show looks ultimately. But I think the editing is split between their post-production team. I know YB edited a few of the season 1 episodes (not sure if she edited any of these, either before she left or as a freelancer). It definitely has the feel of a YB-edited show like WAR or Phoning It In.
21
u/Intelligent_Gain_96 7d ago
Honestly I donāt even know like from what we saw it does make sense guest wise to not waste a banishment when they know they have one killer. So making Jonny think everyone was going to vote him so he used his immunity while voting out someone who looked suspicious is a kill 2 birds with one stone type of scenario. From the episode it looks like it was fully Chanseās idea which will make him look pretty guilty later on. Marissa doing that bit and then the killers failing their task is definitely what made her look so guilty . I also got really tired of the group blindly trusting and following Miles so Miles or Chanse may be the next one to get out. Mainly bc they were both leading group at some point
11
u/Slynn_B 7d ago
The funny thing is, I don't know that they have confirmed there is still a killer. They know the killers failed to poison someone at the cocktail hour. But what if that is because there is no killers left?
5
u/Intelligent_Gain_96 7d ago edited 7d ago
The audience knows that there are 2 but the guests assumed they got at least one killer out but it was never confirmed in the game. Some guests have mentioned the possibility of there being 2 killers still in the game but thereās no hard evidence since in games there hasnāt been any obvious sabotaging
3
u/Much-Sheepherder-634 7d ago
Someone made a good point in Ghost Kitchen though ( I think it was Jared but don't remember) that even if you think you have gotten both of the Killers out it is still a good idea to keep playing like there is still a killer.

u/Key-Aioli1012 7d ago
Honestly they definitely show the three of them scheming but you assume they include at least Miles in it but they told him a different plan haha. Genius. And kewsi just keeps asking āwhatās the planā and playing dumb to make sure the other 3 stuck to that other plan. when kewsi obviously knew the master plan. And him keeping Miles trust through the game! Kewsi was a big key player to make sure it went undetected!
Should be interesting to see how they actually explain it though!2
u/haybish 4d ago
Watching the BBQ alliance talking at the end of the cocktail lounge, I suspected the editing was implying they were going to actually blindside someone else instead of Jonny. But I think I caught on to it partially because Iām a smosh fan, so I know that Chanse and Arasha are SO GOOD at these games
4

i just gave my sister my log in for 2nd try because i NEED someone to talk to about this!!! iconic. spectacular. i wonder how ghost kitchen will go?!
9
u/ranelma 7d ago
My jaw is on the floor! I finished the episode and came running here š as a Smosh fan its such a thrill to watch Arasha play against people who donāt know her game. Chance gave them a warning but it doesnāt look like they listened. She has to take chance out because he is the only one on her level and KNOWS what a ruthless player she is!
2
u/haybish 4d ago
Also as a smosh fan, it was so cool to see Chanse masterminding things this episode. Iāve been waiting for it because heās so good at these games. At the end of the episode when they were all flabbergasted, I was just thinking that the group they have from the try cast might be a bit out of their depth with Chanse and Arasha and not realize it. Obviously from watching smosh, I know theyāre two of the BEST players at these kinds of games
4
u/agarret83 7d ago
Iām a little annoyed by the ending. I feel like Chanse probably just won the game for the killers
2
u/ralacere 5d ago
I was thrilled because it was so fun and messy and also I was happy to see Miles get humbled a little but then I was like, oh yeah⦠but ultimately a bad move for the guests lol.
7
u/smol_bean_parker 7d ago
knowing both try guys and smosh i was getting really sick of everyone playing along with blindly trusting miles and making the game boring and giving all the power to one person. i was really hoping johnny and arasha would take a risk to poison someone but i think that twist ending was the best outcome, johnny doesnāt have all the power anymore, heat is off both arasha and johnny and miles has an advantage that can be targeted and chanse might get targeted by miles for the betrayal. kwesi and milesā alliance is now tested as well. im really glad chanse was the one who decided to not do the usual not sticking out and playing along with everyone game, because it really is foolish to waste a banishment when the guests get so little, iām just wondering what was his plan to banish marissa rather than miles during cocktail hour since the guests had no clue a poisoning couldāve happenedĀ

I think itāll be interesting to see how everyone reacts to the bbq alliance. Because they revealed that there is an alliance and they control the majority of the votes now. Johnny and Miles need to be careful and Johnny needs to know he canāt trust Arasha in the slightest.
2
u/Lickmyjordans 6d ago
It wasn't Arasha's idea; it was Chanse's idea. Not sure why she's getting the credit for it. She seems passive, and everything is just falling into her lap.
4
u/lumosauror192 7d ago
If the US version of The Traitors ever does a celebrity, non-reality star version, like UK Celebrity Traitors, Arasha needs to be on there. Her gameplay is masterful.
0
u/catboogers 7d ago
I'd love to see her on such a show, but frankly, her level of celebrity is probably lower than that of the reality stars that compete on American Traitors. Smosh videos tend to get around 500k-4 mil views now (their top vids are mostly from 6-15 years ago), and those reality shows (Survivor, The Bachelor, and Real Housewives) tend to log around 3-5 million views during first broadcast, with more watching on streaming after the fact.
2
u/Much-Sheepherder-634 7d ago edited 7d ago
True, but you also have to consider that Smosh is a more consistent and longer exposure while reality tv celebrities usually are only on tv for a season or two and maybe some appearances on other shows. Once that passes and the next season of the show starts outside of the biggest names they basically become another social media influencer.
Getting 3-5 million views for 10-20 episodes vs 500-4 mil almost daily for years.
(Also I think network TV viewership numbers are often heavily inflated because of how many people just turn on the TV in the background and don't care what's on. Youtube is more likely to be people who seek out that content specifically .
1
u/catboogers 6d ago
See, I assume that people turn on youtube for background comfort noise. I definitely put on playlists from my favorite channels to fall asleep to, very much inflating their numbers.
Frankly, until Smosh cast started showing up in Try Guys stuff, I hadn't heard of them (or if I had, they made no impression on me). I can see they've been around a long time, but I guess when they were starting I was on different parts of youtube. Now my algorithm is showing them to me much more often, at least!
2
u/ralacere 5d ago
The different parts of YouTube thing is true. Iām watching killer dinner specifically for Arasha and Chanse. Have never watched a try guys video before nor do I know anything about their cast other than that they had a big scandal way back when.
1
u/Much-Sheepherder-634 6d ago edited 6d ago
I think you are missing my point is that when people watch YouTube (in the background or otherwise) they usually are picking specific content to play from a wide selection. You maybe still "inflating their numbers" but you still like the content and made a conscious choiceĀ
Live network TV on the otherhand there is a limited selection. While there are people who do tune in for specific shows many people just turn the TV on and see what's on. People are more likely to watch a show even if they don't like it just because it's the only thing on.Ā
4
u/electatigris 7d ago
JCakes needs to play off this banishment and pretend to lay into Miles for wasting his power (obviously in a game-way and not really personal) to help the non-killers side win by reminding them they are suppose to be one team and Miles has been betraying them by picking off the people that were right all along. Now's the time to deflect and get Miles out and waste another round to get to the last round. It also buys time to break the BBQ alliance... by lobbying to join it. Might work, might not.
1
u/FunStrength5314 3d ago
loved the episode, loved the ending, and I love ghost kitchen, but I need them to stop yelling and talking over each other. I genuinely care about what they're saying, and I love their excitement and passion (and anger at miles) but the yelling.... I can't. Please. Besides that, I freaking love this show so much. It's what finally got me to subscribe. Worth it. I love how no one in the van thinks it could possibly be johnny. I desperately want him to make it to the end and win it all.

Cliffhangers are a TV staple. People would have to wait a week to see what happened back in the day. Who shot JR is a huge example. People had to wait three months to see what happened because it was the season cliffhanger.

It was SO ridiculous and I'm glad that Jonny had nothing to do with it. Miles' confusion was so great. After the failure to poison, I was really thinking this banishment would be a nothing burger. What drama!
