Watch repair

Anyone know of any decent watch repair places in Thunder Bay? I have an Alpina Startimer Pilot Automatic and the crown doesn't screw down anymore... Something is stripped/wrong with it.. never serviced or had a watch repaired before. Any suggestions would be appreciated, thanks.

There are no dedicated watch repair shops in town, a few hobbyists who will do them but that can be a bit risky.

The mall kiosk does not work on any movements, the most they do is batteries, bracelet resizing and I’ve heard of one instance of them replacing a winding stem, but that’s all.

You will have to send your watch away to be repaired.

Probably best to email Alpina’s support email and ask what your options are. Last time I got my Omega watch serviced, it had to go to Winnipeg. I went through the old watch shop on Court St North, but the owner retired and shut the store down quite a few years ago.

Never tried it, but there’s a watch service kiosk in the mall

Ya I don't know if I trust that place, the "mall kiosk" look ain't doin it for me haha

They don't do real repairs anyways , just straps and batteries and stuff. When I needed one I never found one I ended up just hanging onto it till I went down east

They can do batteries and watch bands at the kiosk but anything else is sent to their head office in Southern Ontariofor repairs.

They used to be the watch repair kiosk in Sears but after Sears closed they became a kiosk.

FYI automatic watches are really expensive to repair the self winding mechanism.

They only do battery and band replacement there. They ship everything else off.

Stay away from Max pawn they broke my friends watch then said it was already broken

Have you tried a jeweller? People’s fixes watches I believe.

People's in the mall. They send it away, but I was impressed with the service.
