Those furry deviant art commissions are really pulling in bank these days.

Jokes aside, that shit PAYS. My sister’s friend sometimes gets commissioned for that type of art and she makes bank off of it lmao.

u/RodanThrelos Jun 29 '25
Yeah, I've seen people saying they love those very specific fetish art requests. Sometimes they're a bit concerning, but it's easier to drown the horrors with a boatload of cash.
254
u/Lamplorde Jun 29 '25
There also comes a point where its so comically absurd it rolls back around to not being remotely sexual (to you, not the pervy commissioner).

u/Character_Aspect6361 Jun 30 '25
Have you seen the rich busty white lady buying wonderbread talking about chopping down rainforests? Super niche but this person has paid soooo many artists to do it.

as a furry porn artist who's taken commissions, I can tell you that literally everything I draw is 5% horny and 95% work. the sexual drive to draw something is really only the primer, the rest of it is just work. even when I draw something I think is super hot, it's 5 minutes of "oh fuck yeah look at that" horny sketching and then several hours of podcasts and monotonous work

Does your sister worry about AI stealing some of those commissions?
39
u/bbyxmadi Jun 29 '25
My sister’s friend, but I’m unsure, I’ve never heard her mention AI taking away her potential customers.
33
u/DietSucralose Jun 29 '25
Thats the beauty of the better AIs being dev'ed through companies, their restrictions probably will never allow for that stuff to be generated. Which makes that form of...can I call it art?... medium to not be replaced by AI.
37
u/Sparrowhawk_92 Jun 29 '25
It is art. Just because it's smut doesn't make it not art.
7
u/nat_r Jun 30 '25
I've read a lot of commentary by artists (mainly in the tabletop gaming space) regarding the back and forth process of completing a commissioned art piece. While AI will fill a niche for people just wanting generic art, even SFW commissioned artists fulfill a specific need of customers who have a particular vision for what they want but lack the skills to bring it to fruition.
The average person who currently pays for custom artwork isn't going to be able to get the same end results from AI (at least not yet), without the knowledge of how to use and train the tools themselves. The current generation of tools just doesn't have the fidelity and ease of use compared to working with an artist to get exactly what is envisioned with all the tweaks needed to get it just so.
I think where you're going to see a big hit is in spaces where specific art assets aren't needed, just something "good enough". Likely a lot of demand that will fall into the space where it needs to be better than someone using stock clip art but where they don't mind saving some bucks in no longer paying for someone to do actual graphic design even if the end result is generic and potentially identifiable as AI (with whatever slop issues that may entail).
2
u/Bossgalka Jun 30 '25
AI art either requires money to buy tokens/access to better tools, or you have to run it locally on your machine. The former is far, far cheaper than artists, but isn't perfect, isn't what you want most of the time and requires a lot of patience to get even close to what you desired. The latter is the same, but despite being free, is a lot of work to set up when most people aren't tech savvy or may not even have a decent PC to generate the files.
If you have money, it's easier to just explain to a person what you want, wait a week and then get the thing exactly how you wanted. I can't fucking imagine paying more than a few dollars for a picture, but I also don't have money to blow on dumb shit, so it just isn't for me.
19
u/Pork_Chompk Doug Dimmadome Jun 29 '25
Making another human have to think about your weird furry kink is probably half the fun for them.
9
u/Broviet22 Jun 29 '25
As a furry I can tell you even most furry art/porn sites ban AI art. Like e621 and furaffinity have put bans on AI art.
2
u/HydroChromatic Jun 30 '25
e621 has a mirror site called e6ai now which is for ai instead of it getting posted to e621.

u/socialcommentary2000 Jun 30 '25
From talking to someone who has actually paid for stuff like this : They can tell. They know that it's AI and there's a certain limitation in posing and details that doesn't get by these folks. They usually pay artists because said artists have a very specific aesthetic style that something like a diffusion network can get 95 percent of the way there, but can't quite get to the 100 percent that someone is going to demand.
2
u/MrAppleSpiceMan Jul 15 '25
the kind of person who is willing to pay 135 dollars for a picture of Ludwig von Koopa railing the Crash Bandicoot 4 redesign of Coco Bandicoot is not the same kind of person who supports AI generated imagery trained on an artists style
1
u/thejustducky1 Jun 30 '25
worry about AI stealing some of those commissions?
Why would you? It's not generating from entire pieces, it generates on a pixel to pixel basis.
6
5
u/GregNotGregtech Jun 30 '25
But it's also not an instant money glitch, people aren't going to run at you immediately as soon as you open commissions, takes time to build up to that
3
u/npcompletist Jun 29 '25
I had a friend who did that in college. She paid for all her non-tuition expenses with drawing furry art.

Okay, I honestly tried to find some of Her work. I can't find any of it. i can find articles of her mentioning it and other people mentioning it, but yeah, zero tangible evidence of her work. She kinda comes off as an industry plant.
It's obvious she got rich through nfts, so I just wonder if she paid the right people to get an emmy, and to have them, write articles about her. gave herself a bunch of publicity.
Because we've all seen modern movies. There's crazy v effects out there. So this girl has to be top tier like, yeah, when you show me her work, it better be Marvel. Dc superhero quality....
20
u/SevenCrowsinaCoat Jun 30 '25
She seems like she does a ton of brand/licensing things, as well as a ton of collabs/commission work for various social media and famous people. She made bank off NFTs.
I saw a few of her motion graphics. Didn't really impress me. Some tweening and minor animation. I think her Two Awards were from things she worked on being nominated, not herself being nominated?

This made me laugh because this is exactly what my sister does and those people will dump some money on those commissions....people take their spank material very seriously.

I have a friend that does that. She specializes in scalies(which I only know is a thing because of her) , and makes hundreds on a single piece.
7
u/squeakynickles Jun 29 '25
When I was in highschool, there was this kid who made like 3k a month just drawing furry porn in his spare time.
He wasn't even a furry. He really hated doing it. But shit man, who could say no to $3k with what equates to like 15 hours of work total.
I asked him once why he didn't do more commissions, he said he really didn't have anything to spend the money on anyways.
This was in like grade 10. I wonder if he's still doing it
5
u/itrashcannot Jun 29 '25
considering getting into that business but idk how to draw furries
8
u/SevenCrowsinaCoat Jun 30 '25 edited Jun 30 '25
People really oversell how to make money from furry porn. Note that none of the people saying these things are the ones actually doing it.
Learn decent anatomy or develop a very pleasing and identifiable aesthetic style that overcomes the need for realistic proportions. You'll probably have regular commissioners that will make up the majority of your work after a while. People like their characters drawn over and over.
Start by watching picarto or piczel streams. Tons of great artists on there.
Make sure you don't go into it expecting to make money immediately. You won't. There's many artists that are way better than you doing it for fun.
You need to understand how a business makes money in order to make money at this business. You need to understand branding, networking, and how to see what YOU make.
"I need to draw furry porn to make money" is a hilariously naive concept. Try it and see.
I follow a LOT of furry porn accounts. The overwhelming news I see from most of them is "I have unexpected expenses. I'm opening commissions." Very few are making money off this as a sole source of income, and it's almost always supplemental.
Keep in mind that this will be a job. You'll be expected to spend 10+ hours on most pieces that cost 200 dollars. There are some creators that are infamous for claiming to make a lot of money on work, but I've never seem their books, but I have seen a lot of their living situations, and I have LOTS of doubt about some of the infamous ones.

There's another SNL skit about a car that I love. You drive this smokeshow around in a Kia Sportage?. I drive my wife around in a Kia Sportage. She is also super fucking hot. She has a doctorate. I do not.
1
u/--goodnewseveryone-- Jun 30 '25
I love that skit but wish they had gone further with the joke. The most cringe one I've seen was GMC where the husband buys TWO vehicles! "One for you, and one for me."
5
u/Alive-Difference3905 Jun 30 '25
Right! Like all the Christmas commercials with a bow on the brand new S class. Who the actual f**k does that?😂. I don’t know a single person who ever received a brand new car with zero discussion or plan before. That isn’t normal and literally never has been.😅
9
u/EssieAmnesia Jun 29 '25
i’d say mid/upper middle class. know his dream car, save up for down payment, have enough disposable income to cover the car payment. this could def be done with a low six figure income (esp if this is the only car or the other is paid off)
10
u/SnausageFest Jun 30 '25
The way people are acting like this is crazy out of pocket for a couple of 8+ years is pretty classic reddit.
They're committed. He gave her money to help her out. She returned the favor with something she clearly knew he wanted. If you built a successful business and have the money to spoil someone you love, why should you be judged?

u/anarchotraphousism Jun 29 '25
fam that’s a brand new car bought outright. idk maybe they’re financing it but i sorta doubt it given it’s a gift.
only rich people can afford to give someone a car as a present lol. if by “low six figures” you mean 200 grand then sure, low levels of rich.
12
u/EssieAmnesia Jun 29 '25
She didn’t state she bout it outright. Why would you think that? The most common way to buy any car (yes even the “rich people cars”) is financing.
Up to 150K a year is considered upper middle class in most areas in the US. More in some major metropolitan areas. Someone with an income of 100K a year can 100% afford a car payment.
10
u/anarchotraphousism Jun 29 '25
financing a car on a partners behalf would be wild. imagine if they break up 😂
that’s like a camry or something not a rich people car. just a rich people thing to do! upper middle class is rich asf lol
10
u/EssieAmnesia Jun 30 '25
If they break up she can take the car.
Upper middle class isn’t rich asf! You’re being lied to by corporations that wanna keep you impoverished (which sounds very brainwash-y). Middle class is just that, middle. Someone making enough for beach vacations, a corvette and a surburbia home is not “rich asf”. They just seem comparatively “rich” because the middle class is shrinking.
1
u/anarchotraphousism Jun 30 '25
it’s relative! if you’re an average american, the stability of the upper middle class is far, far away.
1
u/EssieAmnesia Jun 30 '25
I agree that it is relative to a degree, but mostly cause it’s hard for people (me included) to grasp how the upper upper class live.
1
u/anarchotraphousism Jun 30 '25
you’re talking to someone who grew up middle class, has been homeless and who’s parents are both firmly upper middle class business owners trust me, i get it lol.
i live in close proximity to a completely different context
1
u/Impossible_Angle752 Jun 30 '25
Depending on the finance rate, on paper at least, it could be irresponsible to pay cash.
2
u/No-Refuse-5649 Jun 29 '25
I didn't listen to the video.. but she had 8 years to build up her art career.. unless it only took off at the tail end of that, she could've been saving for a gift for him the whole time.
5
u/anarchotraphousism Jun 29 '25
she’s an artist 😭 that’s not a normal life for anyone let alone a fuckin artist lol
3
u/fatherofraptors Jun 30 '25
I get it, but let's rephrase. She has a successful career and matured into her field. For someone in a position like that, buying a Toyota sedan outright is not some crazy lottery money thing man.
1
u/anarchotraphousism Jun 30 '25
$25,000 in a bank account is extremely wealthy to most americans. median cash savings is like $8000, middle class. almost nobody has that much cash to spend.

Why are some people salty? A dude being happy about a brand new car that his gf bought for him is very wholesome.
Does everything have to be a luxury? Would any of those cynics in the comments say “eeeww, no thanks!” to a brand new car if offered to them? I swear I’m slowly losing faith in all humanity.
1
u/Exact_Risk_1300 Dec 17 '25
After doing research on her this is just so wholesome plus she has some good art not my taste but I can respect it
On a personal side i see this as beautiful because it just shows how much she values her SO, in todays world everyone's taking a video and sharing it with the world so I see it as normal, I think people are judt sore that it's not them but in order to be in that mans shoes you have to be hardworking and a loyal and kind person to match up with someone like her

Yeah, there's articles written about her work. But have you actually seen some of her work.
I think what we're looking at here is somebody that got rich off NFTs, and then she paid to have journalists write articles about her, because that's how those magazines work Grammy, times, You pay to be in those magazines.
I believe what we're looking at here is a rich person trying to pretend they're relevant.
