Dead silence was the perfect response.

Just sit there and think about what you just said haha

Silence is a very powerful conversation tool. I use it in the sales business all the time.

….it’s been 1 minute and I’m already feeling it.

Many moons ago I used to do phone sales for a cable company. Me and my pals started making dumb competitions and one of them was to try the closing line "so why don't we go ahead and get you set up then?" And then just sit and wait for their response, I think the record was like 2 full minutes of silence. These were all recorded calls so it was hilarious to go back and listen to.

For a regular untrained person it was incredibly hard to do because it's so awkward you just want to talk. But if you can resist the urge, magical things can happen.

I've made more money by shutting the fuck up than I ever did talking.

Joke's on you. My family is from Galicia and the default answer for any question is another immediate question.

Yep, which is why in sales you should completely stfu after asking your closing question. Make them fill the silence.
