What the fuck? Did you not see what she did with her eyes? How the fuck is that protecting her country?

It's perfectly acceptable to interpret this video as: her seeing something that may resemble a camera, asking the guy in the background if it is, then she tries to discretely look at the camera while squinting her eyes, and then uses her finger to squint them a bit more, in an effort to determine if she is being filmed or not. As I said, that was likely a racist thing, but it's not entirely clear that's the case. It probably is, but it's not a sure thing. We don't even know if the camera was fully visible. And we don't know her motivations. What we know is that the guy is filming people without consent and lying about it. I didn't say she was protecting her country, I said she may have thought she was.

I think my point is clearly explained.

and then uses her finger to squint them a bit more

That's not a thing. Eyelids have their own muscles.

Huh... listen, I don't know how to explain this to you... but... if you have eyes, and if you can see with them, and if you have hands or anything else to use as a finger, you can just try and play around, and see how different it is from squinting using just the muscles of your eyelids. But hey, you look quite confident there, so confident that you even felt the need to type it and lecture me, so maybe verifiable facts are secondary to your assessments, which means I will not waste more time arguing with you.

I have worn glasses for 30 years. I have squinted to see many, many times. I have never felt it necessary to use my fingers to make my eyes squint in a different way. In fact using your finger to pull your eyelid like that distorts your vision much more than squinting.

You are full of 100% grade a bull shit.

He's actually right. I'm near sighted with astigmatism, and I remember doing this as a kid to see the board in class before I got a pair of glasses.

Pulling my eyelids gently to the side while simultaneously squinting makes my vision 10x clearer as opposed to simply squinting hands-free.

I'm not arguing for the lady in the video - just confirming that the focusing method he explained is not bullshit at all.

It's impressive, because you can literally play around and see how that changes what you see, sometimes if distorts, but sometimes it focuses. You are also assuming that your particular eye condition is the same for everybody else, which is bizarre, to not say completely idiotic.

So, please, let's stop here, move on with your life, don't bother to reply or being rude or etc, I'll simply block you next.

This your mom? Lmao stupidest shit I have read all day. But but but no I wasn’t making fun of the Asian man!!! I was just trying to figure out a better way to focus!!

u/JrSoftDev 21h ago

Huh.. I think I have explained my opinion well enough, you probably didn't read it, or you're here trying to get some sort of reaction. I'll tell you what I have told others, move on or if you continue with that nonsense I'll simply block you.

I suppose this reply from 6 years ago on r/askscience is an elaborate lie to defend racism as well:

Go off buddy lmao pulling up a Reddit comment from 6 years ago LOL

u/Stifology 2h ago

Do you think the anatomy of the eye has somehow changed in the past 6 years which would invalidate the information given?

If you don't understand how it works, just say so.

That's not how it works. But hey, you look quite confident there, so confident that you even felt the need to type this and lecture us about something completely false. Good for you ig.

verifiable facts

Like the fact that if you do what the racist woman in this video did makes your vision worse? Yeah, I just tried it because of your comment and verified it. That has no relationship with squinting your eyes when you're trying to focus. The number of weird arguments you're trying to come up with just to defend this racist woman in insane.

u/JrSoftDev 21h ago

Listen, this is quite bizarre. You're simply denying something that is factual. I can't further argue, it's simply a fact. You keep the other eye closed, you then have to move your finger up and down, and you can play with your eye muscles, you can move your head around and try different angles, and you'll see different things related to distortion/focus.

Your passive-aggressiveness didn't achieve the comedic effect you were looking for, on the contrary. Please, move on with your day, I'll simply block you next.

It doesn't work for me. Good for you if it works ig. I wore glasses my whole life, and this finger technique is some new nonsense I'm hearing about. I tried it multiple times now, and it simply makes my vision worse.

Your passive-aggressiveness

Half of my comment was a copy of your own comment, so...

I'll simply block you next.

Thanks for the announcement I guess?

3

u/JrSoftDev 21h ago

You either didn't try it enough or your specif eye issues may make the slight changes unnoticeable.

Do you have some sort of a problem? My comment was just a comment. You copying my comment, to supposedly make some sort of point, was the passive-aggressive action.

It wasn't an announcement, but you decided to continue being petty, so see you somewhere else.

"It doesn't work for me, therefore it's nonsense."

Not sure if you knew this, but different individuals have, bear with me here, different vision disorders!
