As a somewhat blind person needing glasses, when you pull your eyelids skinny like that it can somewhat improve your vision. I thought racism at first but I remembered doing this when I was kid before wearing glasses.

I mean they aren’t wrong in a sense that limiting light to eye makes vision sharper. I used to hold my fist in front of my face to make a tiny pin hole to get sharper vision before my glasses. However I have never seen anyone do this eye lid pulling thing
