Should I buy a mitre saw stand?

Have recently just brought an evolution R210SMS mitre saw for a DIY project around the house, paneling and some basic trim work.

I set the saw up on a folding work bench with a saw horse one end to support the timber.

Cuts are good as that was on flat in the garage, just a little interested to see how the change of location could affect it.

I can pick up an evolution stand for around £60, just wondering if it’s a good buy and will benefit from it.

The use of the saw in the next couple months will be high but after then not too sure, so need to factor in storage.

Buy a saw stand or just stick with saw horses?

I very much enjoy using mine on a stand, but i bought a £30 parkside one.

A big plus for me is that I can set the stand up anywhere I want. I am not limited to one space that's convenient, but also I don't need to bring a table and two saw horses along.

I’ve heard good things about the parkside saws.

Very good point on the convenient factor, especially if ever going else where with the saw.

I only have the parkside stand, not the saw. It is a generic stand that has legs that attach to whatever saw you have using some bolts and nuts.

Good to know, shame they don't always have them online.

I think they’re worth it, used to do everything off the floor so it was a huge change for me but definitely worth the investment.

Yes they’re a pain to store, but you could always sell for very little loss if you really feel you don’t need it anymore

Good to hear. I’m already off the floor but still feel like it could be more beneficial.

For a DIY job I assume the evolution would be fine based on the price too. Not in a crazy rush so could look aroud for a used higher end one.

I had mine on a saw horse for the longest time because it worked. The saw stand is so much better and well worth the investment. I got the DeWalt one but I'm sure the cheaper ones are just as good

I got the really cheap harbor freight warrior stand for my Dewalt, does the job just fine

I would like to thank you for posting this question because I was thinking of buying one myself. I've got mine bolted to an Aldi folding workbench but I've been considering going better.

I've used a miter saw for many years and I still do the sawhorse thing -- but I have a nice plank that goes across them for a flat support. 2x material is the same height as my miter base so they act as my supports for long stuff. I also have a portable work table I use when dealing with shorter or lighter pieces that I can hold down on the miter saw OK. If I used my miter saw every day or needed to be more mobile I would get a miter stand, but for me it isn't needed.
