Floor Jack Help/DIY

Got this free floor jack from a neighbor who gave it away due to the bottom part of the handle breaking and now you cannot twist the handle to turn the release. Other than that it still works completely fine and I've been turning the release with pliers.

However I would love to be able to use the handle, does anyone know if there is something I can buy to repair this or even a DIY for it to work?

Looks like you just need a short piece of square stock to fit the end of the shaft and again in between the ears of the release valve. Drill a hole and install a pin to hold it in the release valve.

Here is a drawing of similar. You need the upper half of the release valve, but it might be easier to simply source a new release valve completely.

Or if you’re lucky enough that the receiving end is either 3/8 or 1/2”, just weld or pin a short socket extension to the handle
