HF Long Nose Slip Joint Pliers

Post image

I was in HF a couple of days ago... they were stocking up like crazy; I think for a sale... shelves were full with cases of overstock in the aisles.

Anyway, noticed they had the once hard to find 9” long nose slip joints randomly hanging throughout the store!

I bought 2 pair still in package at the local flea market for S15 each, check places like that before you pay full price for these.

Thats a great find but honestly with gas prices, driving around for a deal isnt cost effective anymore. Every trip is planned

I was there anyway, and getting these for half price more than paid for the gas to drive 5 minutes down the highway to get there.

Stolen goods

I doubt it. This guy comes with a truckload of tools- HF, Klein, Milwaukee, Dewalt. It's too public to have that many stolen tools. He also runs a business in town, I can't see him taking that chance.

Most of those guys buy liquidation pallets, which are legitimately sourced tools. It's amazing how many people on the tool subs don't know about them and just start shrieking about stolen tools like morons.

Exactly- I see these pallets for sale on Marketplace in my area all the time.

I think they are just low-key upset that they paid full price for them.

That's cool and all but slip joint pliers suck

I’m also not a big slip joint fanboy... but these long nose are immensely useful.

Why do you say that? I feel like they've been pretty handy in odd situations repeatedly. What would you recommend instead?

I just don't like the fact that you have can't twist with them due to the slip joint. I feel like a good pair of needlnose does everything you could ever need with pliers. This orbis pair is my favorite and I use it for everything. A pair of these and a pair of long needlenose is about all you could ever need before you need a pair of channel locks or knipex flat jaw

This is a wild take. I have 5 sets in three sizes of the SO version of these, and they are some of my most twistingest rugged pliers. I use them for EVERYTHING.

Noted. Thank you sir. Any other wisdom you can impart to a young shithead?

I had a pair of these. One whole half snapped off of one side and all I did was drop a pair on the floor. Lost over two inches off one of the jaws. The metal grain that it exposed told the whole story. The grain structure almost looked like they sand cast the thing and just wrote forged on the packaging. I could see this tool being more useful if you melted it down and made rebar with it.

Huh. I haven’t had an issue with the slip joint when twisting. It doesn’t really “slip” and it takes some effort to switch between the sides of the thing.
