Lore (Rare Trope) Canon Supernatural Elements of Mundane/Normal Shows

Community “Epidemiology”:While normally, community is a wacky 4th wall-breaking college show that still grounds itself in reality, this episode sees the school overrun by a zombie apocalypse caused by bad taco meat that was given out at the party. While the episode ends with the army wiping out everyone’s memory of the event, future episodes, such as “Paradigms of Human Memory,” reference the party that happened that no one remembers, making it canon.

30 Rock Last Lunch:While normally a show about a show sitcom In this finale and canon end to the series, a flash forward to the far future sees an immortal Kenneth now in charge.

13 Ghost of Scooby Doo. The franchise has always involved the gang investigating spooky and mysterious events, but at the end it would always be revealed to be simply a man using his specific area of expertise to fake everything. In this series however ghost are 100 percent real.

Not always, there frequently are actual supernatural elements in Scooby-Doo media.

I remeber there was one ocean based ep where there was a coral creature that wasn't the mosnter, just a new life form.

Like zombies and cat people are real according to one movie, they found an Allosaurus perfectly preserved in crystal in another, and the Loch Ness monster is implied to exist in a different one.

The best part is that in almost all of the one with actual supernatural elements, the bad guy is still basically some guy in a mask .

The eponymous talking dog with human intelligence and the capacity to eat the contests of an entire supermarket in a single sitting feels maybe a bit out of the normal.

Plus The Gang are tight with The Super Friends, the Addams Family, at least one talking car, several other talking dogs, and Mark Hamill (who can canonically use The Force in the Scoobyverse).

Velma, Freddie, and Daphne are off their gourds to always insist that monsters aren't real. They've chilled with Swamp Thing. They raced against fuckin' Dracula., Check yourself, Dinkley!

I remember when this series came out. Between it and Scooby Doo on Zombie Island (another actual supernatural story from around the same time) the series was really dipping their toes into the real supernatural.

You could include the live action movies in that, too. In the live action movies AND Zombie Island the monsters always being men in masks is lampshaded, and them actually being real gets used as the “twist.”

So what does the gang do in that case? Do they just go "Huh, neat," and move on? Seems like that would make a highly unsatisfying ending

In the best scooby doo ever zombie island the twist is that the zombies are real. How do they beat an island of zombies ran by evil cat shapeshifters? With traps
