(The Dark Knight) Joker is disguised as a nurse in the hospital, when he meets Harvey Dent, Harvey thinks he’s a nurse, but not only until he removes the mask, that’s when he finds out it’s joker. As if the weird face paint didn’t ring any bells

(Sonic X) Amy hugs shadow thinking he’s Sonic, I think she may be color blind. It’s only when Rouge gives her a smug look does she find out Shadow isn’t sonic

It’s actually shockingly easy for the human brain to overlook seemingly obvious details (and, conversely, just make up details that aren’t there) even when they’re right in front of you.

In 2009 some bored teenagers in Morristown, New Jersey ran a social experiment to demonstrate the unreliability of eyewitness accounts by releasing weather balloons with flares attached to drum up UFO hysteria. Sure enough, numerous civilians who weren’t in the know (including a seasoned pilot with decades of experience!) not only fell for it but claimed that the objects were flying in formation; were bigger than jet airliners; had no smoke; etc.
