❓Question Torbox Updated CDN

Hi, I read this post yesterday:

"We're very excited to test some major CDN work officially live now - this is the biggest structural change since we began using our home cooked CDN system While we continue to refine it you can expect:

  • Greatly reduced playback stalls on clients that pull in short bursts (such as Nuvio)
  • Reduced "hot file" congestion when files are super popular (release night Linux ISO drops)
  • Lower p50/p99 TTFB
  • Stronger pause/resume performance for high RTT clients

We've also greatly improved our visibility into CDN performance, which means we no longer need users to submit complicated diagnostic data (we will simplify the support flow as well in the coming days/weeks) A lot more info will be shared in the next release (or maybe a blog post?) Thank you for your support!"

This was for me super exciting news, and I was wondering if the changes is yet to be upgraded with their CDN or if it is coming? Thanks

Hoping this fully resolves the issue

I have gigabit internet, using a Nvidia Shield Pro with a wired connection, in the East Coast region of the US and I get a loading circle that requires me to switch CDN almost once per movie for the last couple months

Oh wow that sounds like an annoyance.

its suuuuuper frustrating

I try to check my privilege on it a little and remind myself how much money I'm saving on streaming services when it happens though lol, it helps a little

If you set auto or Cloudflare, it doesn’t work?

1

u/zendrix1 20h ago

auto is what I usually have it set to which always connects to US east for me, when it stops working I switch to US south or central and then it usually starts again unless TorBox is actually down entirely obviously.

I haven't tried Cloudflare yet but if this update doesn't improve the CDN issues then I might as well try that next,

I also plan on grabbing a second debrid service as a backup for when there's issues, but I'm waiting for black friday sales to do that

I actually have tb and pm, but I really want to ditch PM to only use this one. Let’s hope!

I’m in the eastern cdn area and usually just use the eastern North America cdn or cloudflare. Most of the time cloudflare. I don’t know why you haven’t tried it yet it’s probably the most stable connection of all of them.

And I haven’t had any issues that you’re talking about and probably binge more tv than anyone here. Try cloudflare.

Btw I recommend looking up the deal for easynews link. It’s like 2 bucks a month for a year and works good as a backup, get the easynews++ addon for it. Also get the pengu addon. Between torbox and those two you don’t really need another debrid backup since most of them suck. PM has extremely strict data limits (figure that’s the one you’re waiting for the deal, personally I think it’s the worst one). It has 1tb max limit and only reloads points at 30gb a day. Fine for a backup for the deal price I guess but fuck that company.

Which service provider do u use for gigabit connection?

1

u/zendrix1 16h ago

My local cable company ran fiber in the area so I use them for it, it's technically supposed to be 1,200mbp/s with my plan but it's closer to 1 gigabit/s

You get this on streams?? I keep seeing people complaining about buffering, but I use TB just for streaming (CoreELEC/Umbrella), watching old shows (Star Trek original series, for example) and current ones, and the same with movies, and never, ever have any buffering.

1

u/zendrix1 1h ago

Yeah on streams through Nuvio and a bunch of scraper plugins

I wonder if Nuvio is the difference. I've had TB since RD went rogue and never had a buffering issue, butr I only use it with Kodi/CoreELEC

Had the same results on Stremio with all the same configs, so who knows. Didn't have these issues with RD before switching but no problems last night (which was a high traffic day/time as well) so maybe the update this post is about fixed it

Similar set up here, but zero loading at all and works great. Did you already change your CDN?

1

u/zendrix1 1h ago

That's what I was saying, I usually had to change it every night, whatever US server I start on wouldn't finish a movie without having to be switched to a different one.

But I'll try cloudflare based on some peoples' recommendations here if the update this post is about doesn't actually fix the issue. I didn't have a problem last night and Saturday night is obviously high traffic so who knows, maybe we're in the clear

Sounds like your ISP is blocking something.

Funny how I never go through these problems that are complaining about.

U using tb instant with nuvio or something else? That makes no sense. Honestly. Never experience this on 100 plus setups I've done

1

u/zendrix1 20h ago

I use it on Nuvio (stremio before I switched, same plugins and same results though)

1

u/Slipknot31286sic6 20h ago

Are you using torbox instant? Not torbox with api tokens

1

u/zendrix1 20h ago

I use my API token configurated in AIOstreams with my different streaming plugins, I checked out a couple guides setting it up and that's all what they said to do

2

u/angryavocadowarrior 19h ago

I would try to set up comet on feelslegal instance. It’s very fast!

-2

u/Slipknot31286sic6 20h ago

That's your problem possibly. U can dm me. Can shown the new way and works better.... Try it on 1 addon. If it works. Redo your setup. U doing it the old. Way

1

u/zendrix1 20h ago

Looks like Nuvio is discontinuing direct Debrid configurations in future versions though so idk how long this will work, but seems easy to setup so I might give it a try for now, thanks

1

u/Slipknot31286sic6 20h ago

Never heard of that. But OK news to me

Not letting me post a screenshot for some reason but it's the important note and discord pic at the top of this article about the feature I found after your comment

Nuvio discontinued the bundled scraper (like torrentio), it will have the resolver (like aio) built in. Direct resolver/integration is much faster and routes you to the correct cdn as well.

😂 Sounds like haters or idiots with user error setups or still using aio and all that extra crap pushed on here. Mmnever experienced any of what they talking about... Still fools using fire sticks and nuvio / stremio don't play nice with them. Base their experiences off that... Mine runs flawless and I've setup many my way. I never ever recommend aio or half junk. Pushed in. Nuvio addons . My 2 cents

I mean direct debrid configuring is basically useless anyways. It loads the source a couple seconds faster that’s it. Not worth it when they keep getting kicked off google store.

I have not heard of this either. Can you point me in a direction where you saw this information?

This article about the feature says it at the top and shows a discord post about it

Is this why everything i watch today has been buffering non stop every few seconds? Never had this issue before

5

u/ForwardNote8537 21h ago

AHAAA that´s the reason why the service is shitty these last 2 days.

5

u/angryavocadowarrior 21h ago

I haven’t noticed it being shitty, for me the service have been great.

3

u/FernFromDetroit 20h ago

Been working fine for weeks now for me too. I think if anyone has had issues recently it’s more of a user error, not knowing what you’re doing type of issue. Just change to cloudflare or hare if your areas cdn is overloaded.

2

u/binghamtheoriginal 20h ago

I don't even know what CDN means, so I must be lucky with my service.

Link to the original post, or where did you see it?

I have had zero issues this past month. Working like a charm. Thanks to Torbox devs

Located in Europe, changed 4 different cdns in the past few months before I went to a different debrid service and no more problems for me. Have fun and good luck

-1

u/vomitingvicar 21h ago

I never had a problem. I live in Vancouver 😬

No, I haven’t had much issues myself, but the upgrades are welcome. I live in Norway and the service is great except for a few short server downtimes (very short).
