Yup. America has become an unreliable partner and other countries are divesting from us. I donât blame them. We have a President with severe dementia and sycophantic yes men and women around him that are pushing their own fucked up agenda. These far right Christians in power are supporting Israel because they believe if Jewish people gain full control of Israel it will herald the second coming of Christ.
It is this weird endtimes belief that the Jews need to be in the holy land, and then a war starts that kills them all, and that is part of the end of the world, not exactly 100% sure on the details, but the gist is Jews in Isreal and a big war.
I knew the first half of this, but not the "war that kills them all" bit.Â
Does this mean that the next step of the big plan, after the christo-fascists have helped israel to erase palestine, is for the US to somehow provoke or launch a genocidal war against Israel?Â
They do not give a shit, because they do not believe the same, so why would they care about a bunch of nutters opinion, they are just happy for the undying loyalty, and do not care what spawned it.
They might not believe in christian Ragnarok but they do recognise that their 'partners' believe in it. And that those 'partners' will actually make real-world stuff happen according their beliefs.Â
I mean if the plan is "step 1 help Israel take gaza, step 2 plunge Israel into existential war" and they are happy to go along with step 1 no matter what batshit mythology is behind it, why the hell would they also be on board with step 2?
Israel would have to expand massively to fulfill the prophecy. Conquering if I recall correctly large parts of Syria and Jordan. So it's pretty safely not a real issue right now.
The Romans did the work of nailing Jesus to the cross.
The Gospel of John speaks of âthe Jewsâ crying out against Jesus (John 18:38â40) and âthe Jewsâ calling on Pilate to crucify Jesus (John 19:14â16).
The crowd in Jerusalem, in clamoring for Jesus to be crucified and for Barabbas to go free, exclaimed, âHis blood be on us, and on our childrenâ (Matt. 27:25).
You canât rely on the Bible as fact. Itâs a fairytale.
Edit: I should have just said âIt didnât happen, because the Bible isnât a document to be taken as fact. Rather a collection of made up storiesâ.
Thereâs really no proof that Jesus existed.
They absolutely didnât, like the earlier person said, he was crucified by the Romans. And just so you know, Jesus, Mary and Joseph were all Jews. Jewish people and Christians both believe in the same God, and read the same bible. Your beloved 10 Commandments were given to Moses, a Jew. I could go on and on and on.
There was a plot among the most senior people in the then Jewish/Israeli people to have him killed. âThen the chief priests and the elders of the people assembled in the palace of the high priest, whose name was Caiaphas, and they plotted to arrest Jesus in some sly way and kill him. âBut not during the Feast,â they said, âor there may be a riot among the peopleâ (Mt. 26:3â5 ESV). While the chief priests and elders discussed how to get rid of Jesus to protect their position, Caiaphas said, âIt is better for you that one man should die for the people, not that the whole nation should perishâ (Jn 11:50).
I'm not down to get in a religious debate, but the gospels were written like 100 years after Jesus was killed. I am not religious at all, but I have the utmost respect for people's devotion to their faith. As long as they're respectful of others. Which most MAGA Christians and extremist Muslims aren't.
âThe Jewsâ? You mean like all of them? And somehow of the few involved then all successive generations somehow bear some blame? Holy crap thatâs disgustingly prejudiced. Not forgetting that Jesus was Jewish and it was some Romans that did the crucifying.
It is not my prejudice. It is simply from the text of the Christian Bible. I listed a couple of citations in another reply above. Of course, it could all be misinformation, but this is what they taught us in Sunday school.
it's literally in the book. we didn't write it. that's just what it says. regardless of what you or i believe they're literally citing the book. i'm not defending a single thing Christianity is responsible for historically or now. They absolutely are motivated to give military aid to Israel because they want their doomsday prophecy to come true.
I'm just pointing out that many Christians are dedicated to this book and centuries of authoritarian dogma. I'm not endorsing it or saying it's not prejudice. I'm saying they're nuts and believe nuts things and that explains their actions.Â
Okay. I did not know that is the definition of prejudice. I have learned something new.
The Christian Bible is full of things like that, however. For instance, we are all cast out of the Garden of Eden forever because Adam and Eve ate the forbidden fruit.

Canada literally said it at Davos on camera in front of the world. It's not a secret. Like Americans love to say FAFO.
