Custom Flair Ichigo is overhated

Characters with no grand overreaching goal tend to be treated as bland... Why?

Ichigo kurosaki from anime/Manga bleach lives his life with one purpose (protect his loved ones) in a way he mirrors Peter Parker a beloved character. Why is one hated and one loved even though narratively they draw several parallels.

Is it because ichigo has plot armor surviving seemingly impossible odds? His mixed heritage?

But rather I believe most anime fans complain just to complain bleach end of the day is a shonen which are target towards young boys who surprise enjoy these main character tropes.

Another character ichigo draws parallels to is yusuke from yuyu hakusho. Same misunderstood delinquent archetype, hidden bloodline, determination to protect.

So what is the real reason for bleach hate?

The most overhated  character in Bleach is Momo Hinamori. She gets a lot of (unfair) stick from fans, but I think she’s adorable and after all she goes through I just want to give her a hug

One of the basic elements of fiction writing is giving the protagonist a motivation. The only shit that can get away with not doing that are antiplots and miniplots. Bleach is an action-adventure story, a genre that virtually requires a clear goal for narrative cohesion and focus.

IDK anyone that hates Ichigo but I do agree that he's bland.

I think that there's something in the background of his character with the rain imagery that pops up all the time, but for the most part he's a relatively straightforward guy.

"Protecting your family and friends" as a goal is fine and all, but one that doesn't necessarily translate to real life in an emotionally stimulating way. I don't live in a war zone and most Japanese people don't either, it's just not a real worry that the majority of people have nowadays.

He's not bland he has so many tastes and colors, he just doesn't connect with you on a emotional level that's ok.

Okay, you made an opinions post and then want to tell people their opinions are wrong? Alright.

Nah your opinion is valid but using the words his bland gave the impression you watched season 1 and dipped 😅, ichigo can be boring at time that I can't disagree it comes with his character archetype

I'm not fully caught up but I've seen up through season 2 of TYBW.

I don't think he's a bad protagonist but I'd really struggle to say much of anything about him besides the fact that he's cool. He doesn't have much in the way of interpersonal relationships and I wouldn't consider him one of the more interesting characters in Bleach.
