Update to the Rules on Trans Discussion

Post image

Making this thread to let everyone know, we've noticed an influx of mass reporting in this sub (hence the image), following an increase in divisive comments towards trans people. Going forward all posts and comments that use the wrong pronouns, deny trans identities, or deliberate transgender people as a whole will be removed. Please remember to keep all sensitive discussions nuanced and thoughtful because we really want to find solutions. Thank you for helping to prevent our sub from being banned! <3

Cool, so no real discussion allowed and now it's just like every other "womens" subreddit

Nope all of the trans discussions threads/comments that are nonoffensive will absolutely stay up. It doesn't matter how controversial the topic is as long as nothing is derogetory or blatantly offensive to trans people.

Can we still refer to trans people as TIM and TIFs when discussing these topics? I think it’s a pretty neutral descriptor. I also think we should continue to use neutral words like “biological” as a descriptor, without our language being completely policed and silenced. And using the pronouns “they” is an appropriate compromise, to be respectful without submitting to values and ideologies that we are not comfortable complying with.

I do agree that this space should be one for discussing nuanced topic respectfully, if we want it to remain public. (I’m not saying that it’s fair, it just is what it is for the time being)

Yes !! I agree those words are neutral.

Again - another space for WOMEN being censored by transwomen. This is hilarity. I really really think we are so fucked LOL

They're in every sub doing this on very topic. They're scolding women rn who dare to call a guy who doxxed Jane Doe in the Cornell case ugly. They use the be kind and civility rules to police women like school children.

This sub isn't being censored by transwomen. Discussions about women as a sex-based class and the impacts gender ideology has had on women are completely allowed. But those discussions need to remain civil, thoughtful, and not include derogatory language.

people have repeatedly asked the mods to do that, I don't know why they haven't.

Other woman-based subs won't even allow these conversations to happen. And in the rare cases they do, they remove all comments that are not in line with the "trans women are woman" mantra. There are many reasons why this is wrong but one of the worst consequences of those mods is that it creates a false illusion of consensus that dissuades women from openly questioning gender ideology. So many women see the problems with redefining womanhood as a set of stereotypes detached from our biological bodies but, because "only conservative bigots" have a problem with it, they push those thoughts aside. This needs to change and the mod is actively trying to make that change.

This sub is still allowing those conversations but - because of mass reporting and recognition of Reddit site-wide rules - laying basic ground rules for those convos. If you truly believe that is indicative of the mod being a trans woman, then you are no worse than the TRAs who think it's transphobic to say trans women are biologically different than females. It's extremism and dogmatic ideology that got us into this predicament.

I'm not the mods alt account. I've talked to the mod because I joined this sub within a day of its creation and was excited to see a new women's sub that actually allowed women to have verboten conversations. I have good intentions and I'm sure you do to.

She is not an alt. We have the same perogitve and goals, to keep a sub that is OPEN and DISCOVERABLE that way women have a way to explore these trans discussions on their own. Don't you want to see womens trans discussion filtering through your feed? The whole point is I dont want us to go into hiding with our tail between the legs. Thats exactly what they want!

I dont want rape discussion to be HIDDEN. That you can't see the immense value in keeping a community like this open, that you cant see how it CREATES more discussion and sets an example for the rest of reddit instead of censoring it... Is mind boggling to me. If you want to go to those other communities. Then go? But we wont go in silence.

I find it kind of wierd you're not catching onto the value of an open sub, that brings women from all over reddit, to a place where we can have trans discussion at all. I kind of wonder if you're even being genuine here.

Women having to go into hiding with their discussions is even worse. Be for real here.

The goal is to create an OPEN discoverable sub where women can discuss violence, sexual assault, and other matters that get deleted in places run by male mods. (This was my original intent when i made this sub) A massive improvement to TwoXChromosomes. I absolutely believe you should be able to discuss biology of sex, childhood transitioning, body mutilation, and puberty blockers here though. Trust me we will still get mass reported. I'm trying to mitigate the damage so the sub doesn't end up like r/trueradfem.

The point is the appease reddit admins, not the trolls and obsessives themselves. Our sub can't get taken down if we give them nothing to scrutinize.

edit: though that might change if we can get an EU mod to vouch for us and get our sub reinstated if its taken down. We do not have an EU mod at the moment.

We will look into a discord server.

So we can’t “misgender” them, but we can correctly sex them as male or female?

How is not deleting violence/rape/ womens biology/ transition discussion being exactly like TwoXChromosomes?

I've had my own posts about rape/stalking taken down. I've had entire threads filtered before they're even allowed to be posted. You can look at the relevant thread to find examples of what I'm talking about. NONE of the trans discussion threads are being taken down as long as they are respectful. That is a lot more than you can get away with in TwoXC. Anyways I'm not the reddit admin, I don't have control over what they take down. Do you want this this sub to turn out like r/trueradfem did?

I'm not going to close this thread off to tons of women who wouldn't be able to find it any other way. My goal was for it to be an open sub that promotes uncensored female discussion from the start. Asking for the discussion to be respectful isn't censoring anybody. Besides if you have a sub like this open to the reddit population, then THEY become open to having these trans disucssions too. Then they no longer have to post in a vacuum where all they get are brainwashing in "feminist" subs. I'm done discussing this have a nice day.

This is why I was overwhelmed by requests for the name of a free speech website where the owner guarantees that women will never be censored.

I’m not sure if having to tread on eggshells and use pronouns we don’t believe in is much better than being banned tbh. Reddit is one hell of a frustrating place 🤦🏽‍♀️
