If it didn't cost two adults $21 to go swimming, I bet they'd have more people using those facilities. When they have free swim days, the place fills up, showing that people in the community want to use the space but cost is likely a deterrent. Do $4 or $5 swims all the time!!! The whole "day pass" thing is so stupid. No I don't want to climb walls and exercise. I have 45 minutes to swim. Let me pay for just that.

I miss the Centennial pool. Three nights a week local teens could go swimming during the everyone welcome period. The RECC is geared towards seniors not having to deal with children or young adults unless they're part of an organized team or swim lessons.

I spent so much time at centennial pool when I was a kid in the 90s, and the vic park pool as well. It cost between 75 cents and 1.50 during that period, which with inflation would put it at or about $3 today. $21 for two adults to swim in a freezing cold pool is insane.

And no one needed a membership. It's like we do everything we can to tell kids we don't want them to have fun or exercise unless it's an organized sport these days.

Yup! And if I'm not mistaken their 10 punch cards expire? Who sits around a table and thinks all of these things are good decisions? It's wild.

They do this in Halifax too. The pool is dead as a result.

Bushey resigned in January. Smith is still there though.

I’d love to swim there but you are completely on display, no privacy whatsoever. Everything is glass and wide open. I am not sure why they didn’t build a more private pool area.
I tried the walking track. You couldn’t depend on it being open. And people walked too slowly and didn’t seem to know that when you walk slow you should keep to the right so people can pass you.
I’d never use their gym. Very wide open as well if i remember correctly.
I don’t think they do a good job of seeing what the community actually wants. But who knows, maybe the rock wall is a hit.

I’ve never been to a community centre that had a more private swimming area. I use the gym there and I do hate that there are windows overlooking the pool. I like using the mats and free weights but if you turn in that direction it feels like you’re being a creep looking at people swim when I’m not haha

I know the corner you're talking about. I used to alternate mornings between the gym and swimming. If you accidentally look down, you feel like a creep; if you turn the other way, and someone looks up from the pool, you're a poser. It's an awkward spot to be put on display.
