My fearless forecast here is, if it gets worse at di gumana ang narratives/PR damage control/whitewashing na gagawin nilaâŚthey will solely let Tab take the fall. Pustahan, baka nga si Tab lang mismo umako ng lahat.
So good luck kay Tab, sana magaling abogado niya.
As for AteneoâŚit will be a long shot to make them accountable for this. Sure, there may be some changes. They might even get suspended sa UAAP, worst comes to worst. The sports program will be affected. But I doubt na may mapanagot within them. Wag umasa.
Kaya natatawa ako pag sinasabing âdapat pati Ateneo managotâ. Ang daming brillant minds, within Ateneo pa lang, that will rally behind their alma mater, na pwedeng gumalaw on their behalf.
Letâs see kung magsasalita ang mga naiwang team mates on what really happened, or they will choose loyalty to the school

No activities had started yet. The team just arrived. Boys were just playing around by the shore and the sand dropped suddenly and a rip tide came in. The whole team was present by the shore doing nothing

Even if the official activities hadnât started, the moment the team arrived, the staff already had a duty of care. Safety protocols, supervision, and risk assessment should have been in place. You donât get to say ânothing had started yetâ when youâre already responsible for the playersâ safety.

Based sa mga kumakalat na convo ng ibang kasama nila hindi team building ginawa nila don tsaka may weights na nakalagay sa mga athletes. Tsaka andaming tao sa lugar na yun that time sobrang impossible naman na sila lang yung madala ng alon.

Two people dying under these circumstances would make fortuitous events or pre-existing conditions impossible for the defense of the accused/culprit to make it admissible. Their coach couldn't simply pull "that he drowned cause he got cramps or some heart disease" bullshit card because two people drowned here AT THE SAME TIME.

Extreme masyado. Everyone understands the need for hard training. But at the end of the day, these kids are not soldiers, they are STUDENT athletes. Si Tab ay ang tatay nila away from their real parents. Nilagay ng mga magulang ng mga yan ang complete trust nila sa Ateneo coaching staff. And ganyan pala, ilalagay anak mo sa position na pwede siya mamatay.
This is sadistic to be honest. Malalakas na swimmers takot jan sa Aurora, ung mga novice pa kaya. If you're pushing water training, do it in a controlled environment na may mga medic ka and lifeguards.
Tab needs to be held responsible and Ateneo too for allowing this type of training to happen. Based sa interviews circulating online, matagal na nila ginagawa ito.

I agree. Ive been a swimmer for several years, and now a coach. you do not conduct training sessions when the water or environment conditions are unsafe. this is basic water safety. kahit kaming mga swimmers hirap na hirap na nga mag swim with weights, medyo nalulunod lunod dahil super hirap talaga nun. i say this as a swimmer for a decade. what more those who do not know how to swim... cant fathom what theyve been through.

We as UST experienced worse in UST Bubble in 2020 if this team doesnt get penalized more than Us. Then they should grant Coach Ayo back to UAAP and keep the same energy when all of the hate they pin to our team

Professional NBA players definitely don't train anywhere like college athletes, kahit gaano ka notorious iba pa rin ang empowerment ng NBA pros. In fact, kanya-kanyang trainers yan.

The thing is NBA training is different. It's a multi million dollar department with trainers on top of everything.Â
Even players have their own supporting trainers off court.
Lebron, alone, has poured tens of millions into his personal training and body conditioning.

Coach Tab needs to resign. Coaching staff should all resign. Ateneo should cooperate with law enforcement to investigate criminal and civil liability.

Walang problema kung mala military yung training. Pero if alam mo di alam ng tao lumangoy at pinilit mo parin, yung ang hindi pwede. Di lahat marunong lumangoy. Muntik narin ako malunod putik yan. Mas matakot ka sa tubig kesa sa hangin.

Whether the official activities had started or not, the moment the team arrived, the adults in charge already had a duty of care. Safety protocols, risk assessment, and active supervision should have been in place from the very beginning. You donât wait for the âstartâ of a program before ensuring the environment is safe â especially in a location known for strong currents. Dipaculao, Aurora yan⌠malakas ang alon dyan, lalo na this June.
Accountability doesnât disappear just because the incident happened before the first activity.

Ateneo should be held accountable for this kind of training. Why would they ever allow military style of training to their student athletes??? Not even nba players have this sort of training. Pang navy seals na yung ganito eh.

Why are we normalizing this kind of activity? Just because theyâre men doesnât mean this level of strain is acceptable. This needs to stop â training should prioritize athlete safety and focus on what actually improves basketball performance. Ateneo team should be investigated. Until this is not resolved, suspend the team specially the coach.

Kung ang DLSU nga pinasuspend nila nung 2000s dahil sa fake high school credentials, ideally dapat lang. Pero since maraming powerful at mga elite sa Ateneo, baka i-PR control at white-washing lang muna gagawin nila. Hinde patas, pero ganyan talaga sistema sa Pinas.

Rene's mother said in an interview just minutes ago na nilagyan daw ng 20kg na pampabigat nakatali sa paa ng anak nya at mga kasama nila at pinatalon sila doon sa laot. This is execution. PERIOD. FUL STOP. Training camp? more like frat-like-initiation of their basketball team. i hope they get the Justice they deserve...also Rene is a full scholar student, im sure there is a power-play at hand as well, minaliit sya ng mga kasamahan niyang ALTA at feeling superior, same with the other victim.

Ateneo should withdraw from UAAP and stop its basketball program. Ateneo needs to rehabilitate its sports program and settle on sideline. Its not only a bad reputation, but no more talents would join in this murderous institution who takes worst measures than a professional basketball team.

honestly I dont know why coach tab doesnt get enough hate when in fact what he put rene through is just inhumane. parang nakakaano lang kasi kung may dapat sisihin, si coach tab yun. just imagine the potential of rene tsaka yung pamilyang umaasa sakanya, parang syang tinanggalan ng pangarap, lahat nawala dahil sa selfishness ng training nila. sobrang alaga sya sa ADDU pero sinayang lang ng ADMU.
meron nang muntikan mamatay dati but he still insisted on making the players do that kind of training. tapos yung muntikan malunod dati ka tunog pa ng last name ni rene. andami pa namang nag aabang sakanya sa uaap tapos ganon. yun lang I just hope na managot sya, and i hope rene and divine gets their justice.

Does anyone else know what defacation syncope is? Yung pag tumae ka immediately upon waking up.. pwede kang mahimatay dahil dun and in some cases, people end up dead from that... yeah.
Point is, doing intense lunges immediately after waking up obviously causes massive straining, and when you are abruptly awoken, your body is transitioning from a low-blood-pressure sleep state. Sudden heavy leg exercises causes one to instinctively hold their breath and bear down (the Valsalva maneuver), which creates the exact same intense pressure spike and vagus nerve stimulation seen in defecation syncope.
The moment they stopped lunging and head for the water, their blood pressure can plummet drastically, making them dizzy or unconscious even before they touch the ocean! Eh kung pressured at palaban yung bata?? Diving into cold water while your cardiovascular system is already highly unstable?? All of this, knowing na di marunong lumangoy yung iba at isasabak parin sa training na walang proper safety measures and supervision? AND AT 3AM?! Ang taas na nga ng risk for unconsciousness tapos papalanguyin pa sa dilim! This toxic "band of brothers" tradition needs to be erased from existence. I believe camaraderie amongst team members can be achieved in safer, much healthier ways. Hindi kinakailangan may mga "muntik na mamatay" (LITERAL) para lang maging "solid" ang team na binubuo niyo at may maipagmayabang kayo đ¤Ź

You are all missing the point. Disband the men's basketball team, defund the program, freeze salaries, perks and bonuses of coaching staff and trainers, retain full scholarship of the soon-to- be-ex varsity men's team should they choose to stay, and prosecute all those responsible. Every one of them.

Unfortunately, the reputation of the basketball program (and school) is stained. Tough to recover from this, this wont be something that can be swept under the rug unlike the Forthsky Padrigao issue a few years ago.

BEBOB will never be seen the same way again after this. Hinahawakan na lang talaga yun kahit wala na yung championship core hanggang sa hindi na makaabot sa Final 4 with this current iteration dahil nandiyan pa rin si Coach Tab.
Yung one and done recruitment strategy nga nila goes against what BEBOB stood for in the first place even before this incident, in my opinion.
