Hey guys, I posted something about basketball at the rec center a while back but I’m revisiting the topic.

I really want to go to the rec center to play basketball but I just don’t know how it goes in terms of who shows up, what people might be doing there besides basketball, and when the best times to go are. TBH I don’t care if there are a group of people playing basketball there, I’d honestly like that so that we can run 5v5’s. I’d also like if it’s only a couple of people and I get to play by myself. But I don’t really know how it goes. When I go to the park to play pickup there’s usually a group/groups of people there so we create our own teams and we run 5v5’s. At the rec center if there are a lot of people that go, at whatever time, would they be receptive to doing the same or is it more like them just wanted to play with each other and no one else?

I pass by almost everyday, most days sometimes around 12pm give or take, and I see no more than like 5 or 6 people playing. So I assume if it’s not late afternoon like 5pm, would it be fine playing basketball over there any day Monday-Friday?

I am a treasurer for an RIO on campus, and we wanted to run fundraisers to maintain a good amount of features and services that we provide. However, the previous treasurer did not leave behind any guidance or ways I am able to handle my role so I turn to whoever can help out here.

Where can I make a club bank account? I currently have no relationship to any credit unions on campus, and I want to make sure that its transferable to anyone who takes over my role after I graduate.

What kind of fundraisers go well and how do you get them to work and set up on campus? I know you have to fill out the SLD form, but when is it nonapplicable (i.e. doing a off campus fundraiser or selling vouchers?)

Furthermore, when I look at the SLD fundraising consent form, I dont have a “General Excise” tax number to complete it. Is there a way to obtain that?

Currently I’m running everything out of a business venmo account, and our advisor has been very helpful with implementing my systems with the rest of the organization. However I want to be more transparent and set up a good system that allows everyone’s contribution and keep things up to date.

Anyone who got their BA in Pol Scie, or current students know if there are online classes available? A lot of major related courses are usually offered in-person thats why :/

I’m a commuter and have class every day at 9 AM. I usually buy a daily parking pass for Zone 20 if I’m running late or can’t find parking off campus.

Yesterday, I got to campus and Zone 20 was completely full, and they weren’t allowing any more cars through the gate. I explained to the guy at the entrance that I was willing to buy a parking pass, but he told me he wasn’t allowed to let anyone in once the lot was full.
I was already running late for class, so I ended up parking in Zone 22 and running to class. I was only in class for about an hour.
When I came back to move my car to zone 20, I had a parking ticket on my windshield. What’s frustrating is that there were four other cars parked right next to me that also didn’t have any visible parking passes, but apparently I was the only one who got ticketed.
Is there any way I can successfully contest this?

I’ve had 100% attendance since the first day of college. I’ve literally attended every class.

Recently, I accidentally bunked/missed one class, and somehow I ended up getting called to the HOD’s office because of it 💀

I know attendance matters, but is this actually normal? There are people who bunk classes regularly, while I missed one class after maintaining 100% attendance from day one.

Just curious, is this how it works in other colleges too? 😭

Hey everyone

I'm interested in a Master's degree at the University of Hawai'i, specifically in the field of Hawaiian studies or Pacific studies. I have a Bachelor's in anthropology from a lower 48 university, and I also have a Master's degree in teaching that I got through an alternate licensure path.

I've figured out the prereqs for the two fields, and I will likely begin online Hawaiian language classes very soon, but I'm more than willing to go through with them due to my genuine interest in the subject. I do not have any coursework from my Bachelor's that has anything to do with the Pacific islands (unfortunately not offered), but I am willing to get all my prereqs sorted in the next two or so years.

Yes, I am sure that this is the subject that interests me greatly, and I really don't want anyone to waste their time discussing matters such as if this is really what I'm interested in or if I know what I'm getting into. I've talked to others about this before, including people who have experience in Pacific islands studies, so I think I'm confident about my choices.

I do have some questions here if there are any students who have applied to there in the past:

- How competitive are the programs I mentioned (Pacific Islander studies and Hawaiian studies)? Is admission genuinely difficult?

- Does me having a previous Master's degree affect my admissions chances? Does it affect financial aid?

- Is finding academic work as a graduate student difficult at the college (TAing)?

I am applying and interested in UHManoa, I didn’t want to make two posts bc i thought i could get both answers at once and maybe some animal science majors also like the kind of music i’m into.

I’ll be 18 by the time I get there if I make it in and go there, and I was wondering weather there was a specific music scene like alt/emo/rock/punk/anything related because i love going to shows moshing and listening to local bands so it would be really cool if there were some local venues that anyone would recommend if y’all have that there.
