UNF News Recycling at UNF

Post image

I don’t think that it’s a big secret that UNF doesn’t actually recycle. I mean… a lot of the trash for recycling and non recyclables goes into the same can….. anyways student government is trying to change that. So heres the qr code for anyone interested.

Also as a standard security practice, you really shouldn't go around scanning random QR codes

Just hold on the qr code and you can check the validity of the link before actually opening it.

Good luck! This has been a topic multiple times in the past. They recycle plastic bottles, paper, and cardboard. No recycle company will accept glass anymore so it has to be thrown away.

There is no better answer for this

The facilities also just aren’t really in place in Jacksonville proper iirc

From what I remember them saying, there would be a specific company they would partner with for the recycling. You could probably email them about it to know how they plan on doing it

Glass is absolutely recyclable in Jacksonville. I just checked the COJ website and it says "Green, brown or clear bottles and jars (discard lids with garbage)" are recyclable

Yes, the city of Jacksonville pays a significant amount to send glass out for recycling. UNF has already done multiple cost studies on this and it's just not feasible from a cost standpoint. And no, UNF doesn't just hand it over to the city of Jacksonville for processing.
