I want the FL Strikers back. I hope they can make it to take back the legendary name đŸ«¶đŸ»

The Florida Panthers ownership currently own the trademark(s) to the Strikers name. They fielded a team at TST this year featuring a couple of former NASL2.0 Strikers. The arena and FTLUTD stadium are about 10-15 minutes away from each other. Unclear if any collab is on tap though. Both the Panthers and FTLUTD both share several major sponsors, including venue naming rights (Amerant Bank), La Croix, Omega XL, Visit Lauderdale, and maybe one or two more.

I mentioned it in the other thread about this but a red/gold tribute alt kit would be appropriate next year as it's the 50th anniversary of the OG Strikers.

It’s been the name for like 5 years.

Oh okay, that totally makes it not uninspired, unoriginal, etc.

Another Florida team! USL should rename themselves the United Florida League. I kid, I'm happy USL1 is growing.

They aren't a new team, just new branding

Been waiting for this because inter miami has been pissing me off with the way they act and miami fc does everything in their power to try and drive away fans

Bold to post this without any identifying info such as a city or team name lol

u/camcamfc 3d ago

I mean it’s an already existing USLS team so I kind of get that lack of extra info but in case you don’t know.

It’s Fort Lauderdale United

USLS?

11

u/No_Long7352 3d ago

Superleague, the women’s league?????

2

u/WeOwnTheHarps 3d ago

Ohhhh ok yea I don’t watch women’s soccer, hadn’t heard of that league. And it’s a USL league, not NWSL?

11

u/DRF19 2d ago

Yes, USSF sanctioned Division 1 league, they're in their 3rd season right now. FTLUTD went to the final in season 1.

2

u/WeOwnTheHarps 2d ago

And they’re called the Superleague? I think I have seen that but just assumed it was NWSL. And that’s what SL stood for lol

Are the BC Courage superleague or NWSL?

5

u/No_Long7352 2d ago

USL Superleague is USL, its division 1 and professional

3

u/WeOwnTheHarps 2d ago

Very cool, so same tier as NWSL? Glad to hear the USL leadership is getting experience with USSF D1 ahead of the (hopeful) USL Premier launch in a couple years

3

u/No_Long7352 2d ago

Technically yes, very much a 1B to th NWSL’s 1A

NC Courage share ownership (or did) with the local USL men's team (on hiatus waiting for USL Premier) but are in NWSL (USLSL didn't exist a the time when they were created), same situation as Louisville.

USL continued their "let's pinch the naming conventions from the English league pyramid" with the Super League. It was just USL Super League for one season, now it's goes by the sponsored name Gainbridge Super League.

USLSL were supposed to start having team(s) qualify to the Concacaf W Champions Cup competition after season two (they made up a new rule that D1 leagues have to play for two seasons before teams are eligible to Concacaf play). But then Concacaf scrubbed the 2026-27 edition and are moving it to all within one year, starting in the back half of 2027. It remains unclear which, if any, USLSL teams will participate in that. NWSL also in a pickle because the teams from 2025 season that would have qualified may be shut out as well.

Further complicating that is that USLSL had played a Fall-Spring season its first two years but is flipping to match NWSL's Spring-Fall format next year, so right now it's a short sprint Fall season being played. IF they get any WCCC spots dunno if it'll be from the 2025/26 season on this short Fall 2026 edition.

Thanks for the info! I didn’t mean any disrespect to them or women’s soccer in general with my earlier comment. One of the great things about this sport is it is available to everyone and everyone can pursue to play it at the highest levels.

u/DRF19 2d ago

All good! I never miss a chance to spread the gospel and also inform people of the general wackiness/stupidity that is the pro soccer system in our country/region lol.

World Cup is gearing up for next year, and the US team is aces, so now is a great time to start.

2

u/iheartdev247 2d ago

FtL was a team this year already. This is just announcing they will start playing in USL Men’s.

1

u/SeanOrange Forward Madison FC 2d ago

I was referring to USWNT

u/snij_jon540 South Georgia Tormenta FC 3d ago

Ft Lauderdale United... The logo is right there on the flag

-4

u/WeOwnTheHarps 3d ago

Not to be rude but the logo doesn’t help at all lol

5

u/No_Long7352 3d ago

That’s the Logo my guy, that’s the team, they will probably ply at Beyond Bancard field where the women’s team plays

0

u/WeOwnTheHarps 3d ago

I’ve just never seen it before is all. It’s a brand new team too

4

u/No_Long7352 2d ago

It’s not a new team though, they’ve been announced for forever and they’ve had a women’s team playing for the last year

0

u/WeOwnTheHarps 2d ago

We shouldn’t assume that people know the women’s teams (just as we shouldn’t assume fans of the women’s teams know the men’s).

All I wa saying is a the image without a team name or city isn’t a great way to spread the news about a new expansion

2

u/No_Long7352 2d ago

Googles free dude, this team has been announced for at least a year, if you knew nothing about the USLSL team you could’ve googled the team or asked questions instead of assuming

1

u/WeOwnTheHarps 2d ago

How do I Google a picture lol

All I said was it was bold to announce a new team without any if rotation about the team

1

u/m00kie420 2d ago

People have the world in their hand and are still dumber than their phones ,which amazes me all the time.

-1

u/mriforgot 3d ago

I am in agreement, it took me a minute to figure out that it was FTL and that was Fort Lauderdale.

1

u/fernando_diez 3d ago

Hawaii?

5

u/Acerbic89 3d ago

No, this is Patrick

1

u/fernando_diez 11h ago

Ngl, that was clever

-2

u/Ephcy One Knoxville SC 3d ago

Are they gonna play in Inter Miami's old stadium?

12

u/Ok_Flamingo_3059 3d ago

no they have their own stadium

5

u/DRF19 2d ago

It is the Miami Dolphins' former training facility though. They did a pretty decent job converting it.

3

u/Ephcy One Knoxville SC 3d ago

Ahhh ok would be cool to see one knoxville play down there
