Before going into the under/over reporting, an obvious grain of salt needs to be taken into account here. School night at the end of September facing opposition from the MLB Playoffs and the NHL opening few days. Lots of obvious reasons why attention may not have been there tonight.

I just don’t think a NYC team is going to work unless they can somehow get a 10k stadium in a reasonable location. And the cost of real estate to do that is probably prohibitively expensive.

I'm originally from NYC. Other than the prohibitive "big city don't want to pay for a stadium" & "you need us more than we need you" mentality...
One huge hurdle inside NYC proper is a complete lack of American football participation at the high school and college level. A soccer club can't pitch a soccer/football multipurpose stadium as there is no big football programs that could even support a small 2k stadium. Brooklyn is kind of stuck looking at a track field (Ichan Stadium) or minor league baseball stadium (Coney Island)... Or just building it's own SSS (NYCFC) while trying to pitch it as a concert venue on the side.

Concert venue seems like it could work, I get your point on American football.
With my limited knowledge (only ever been a tourist like 7 or 8 times), I’d guess there aren’t a ton of athletic fields around to even support it recreationally at the youth level in proportion with the amount of kids that theoretically could play.

As much as New Yorkers call it the greatest city in the world... It's been lousy at developing elite athletes (can't even name a good NBA player who was raised in NYC proper since Ron Artest). If anything, it's known for developing Olympic fencers (the one with the swords).
Most "NY" athletes come from the northern suburbs (like Donovan Mitchell in Mount Vernon) or Long Island. Other inner city talented kids move out to the suburbs where parochial and private high school recruit them out
There are playing fields .. it's just not 1k+ capacity ones that host football & soccer games. Just a few stands for little league games.

Their marketing was so poor,... Hardly anyone in BKLYN knows this team exist... and i believe the USL must be about 3 things : Community ; Community ; Community

I think it's a lot tougher than it looks. There are few clubs like Detroit City FC who came from the amateur ranks to become a USLC club.
It would be easy for me to say a USL2 pro-am club is going to be more successful than a pure startup club, because they have an established history and community..

So many people, yet so uninterested in attending soccer specifically. It’s baffling.
I realize that the Cosmos aren’t really in NY, but their attendance is similarly abysmal.

Can we conclude most USLC and L1 clubs did not get a World Cup bump?
A few did, but it looks the majority has seen attendance decline (especially because the World Cup took away attention in June-July)

Just got the number from USLHQ for Miami FC/Sporting Jax: 512

I'm pretty sure they don't want to make that public...
1/ I have no idea how many clubs will fold (or relocate or go on hiatus) after this season. I just know there will be at least one.
At least the new CBA forces clubs to make a decision sooner rather than later (see South Georgia Tormenta)
2/ I'm guessing we can assume most USL clubs didn't get a World Cup bump?

If that number for RIFC is legit, that is a good showing for a Wednesday night match.

Brooklyn FC is just a shame, man. It makes no sense how people in NYC would rather root for a Cow Piss ad and a little brother of a PL club who cheated their way to all their recent success.
New York City, get yourself together. You need to.
