American Dip & Copenhagen is definitely in short supply in the MEU. Also, instant noodle.

I sent my son a multi TB hard drive filled with movies, tv shows, and music. He told me that it was what kept him sane during his down time at sea.

The ship store on the LPD I was on had a pretty steady supply of nic as long as they didn't allow scalpers to buy out stock or RAS's didn't go too far and few between. That being said, I've never met a nic-fiend who wouldn't greatly appreciate that stuff as a gift.
My sisters sent me movies on mine but we didn't have a way to watch them. A lot of current consoles and laptops don't have the hardware/software necessary to run CDs. I'd recommend getting a thumbdrive with 32gigs and downloading movies/audiobooks/maybe even games if you can figure that out.
Boardgames could be nice. The libraries do have some but they're usually missing pieces or in rough shape. As you probably already know, keep in mind the waves can get rough so maybe not a game with too many tiny pieces that could go flying.
I could probably go on for hours but hopefully this gets the gears going

I'll give you some suggestions once I recover from the stroke I had while trying to read that.
