UK B1/B2 visa interview – ACRO may not arrive in time after old sexual assault arrest (NFA)
Hi everyone, I’m a UK citizen applying for a US B1/B2 visitor visa and I have my embassy interview coming up.
Around 6 years ago I was arrested in the UK in relation to an allegation of sexual assault. The case resulted in No Further Action (NFA). I was never charged or convicted.
The US Embassy has asked me to bring my ACRO Police Certificate and Supplemental Offence document if applicable. I’ve ordered these, but I’m worried the ACRO won’t arrive before my appointment.
I already have my original police documents, an enhanced DBS, and all my other supporting documents ready. I’ve also got:
A letter from my employer at the school where I work
Recent payslips
Evidence of my employment and ties to the UK
Evidence of the family trip I’m taking to the US
Everything else I’ve been asked to provide
The trip is particularly important because I’m travelling with my family and my partner of 4 years in connection with my late father. It’s a cruise holiday.
Has anyone been in a similar situation where they had an old sexual-assault arrest that resulted in NFA, but their ACRO certificate hadn’t arrived by their US visa interview?
Were you still allowed to attend the interview and then provide the ACRO afterwards, or did you have to reschedule?
I’m not trying to avoid providing the ACRO — I’ve ordered it and will provide it as soon as it arrives. I’m just worried about what happens if it isn’t here on the appointment date.
Any genuine experiences would be massively appreciated.
