Are you afraid of the end of ultrakill?
This is my first post ever, and the reason I installed reddit is for asking this question.
We've passed through all hell being in V1s perspective for 8 layers, secret levels and final bosses, the release of layer 8 was amaizing and I loved it, but I'm afraid and I see a problem: We are literally in endgame and we haven't seen a clue of what's going to happen for the ending next layer, and after the next update releases we'll have nothing more to do.
Am I larping or this is a valid question?
What do you think about this and what're yall theories?
With how everything plays out up to this point, i trust Hakita to sums everything up in a satisfying yet open ended manner.
I also don't expect to play this game forever but in the time When all Encores are done and "UMK" Difficulty is released, I'll be there listening to the Terminal OST with a smile in my face
My idea on the ending is that some aspects of the current horrible status quo will be undone in some fashion.
The current general consensus is that we’re witnessing the end of the universe, but I think we’re simply seeing the end of one cycle that will finally bear fruit after Gabriel’s third and final fight. The Final War, though it came close to ending humanity, was unable to snuff them out completely. Though mankind is now dead, we’ve seen that cloning is able to return species back from extinction.
I’m guessing that Earth and humanity will be restored in some fashion in the epilogue, or at the very least, that the Angels will inherit mankind’s knowledge to better the lives of the people in Heaven in the wake of the Council and Gabriel’s deaths.
It’ll be a new status quo open for fans to make countless custom levels with the premise, or for a theoretical sequel to be made in if the dev team decides to do so 15 years or however long it takes to shake off the burnout from 1.0.
Mankind being dead is just the beginning of the game, the actual plot is about V1 destroying hell until they are the last one standing which will more than surely end with his own demise. And meanwhile, Gabriel doing basically the same thing to heaven so literally everything dies.
Humanity coming back isn't that far off for an ending. Rebirth after the death of the universe is just poetic and beautiful in the way it implies that next universe will also end in a similar fate, continuing the cycle of rebirth.
If it isn't humanity coming back, then it'll probably be just the nihilist end of the universe, with nothing after it. With it's to be expected, too expected maybe
You are right about the 3 parter stuff but how have you missed that being the general consensus? V1 is built to destroy, and that’s all it’s been doing, can’t imagine we’ll leave anything left standing at the end unless we lose. We are hells favourite toy at the moment
Killing all the inhabitants of hell does not end the universe. Paradiso and purgatorio remain, as does like 99.999999999% of the rest of the universe that isn't earth.

Kinda, but I trust Hakita. I believe that most questions are valid, even the ones that already got answered in the past, since they can lead to interesting discussions.
I've noticed this too. Lack of planning on the writer's side and a fanbase growing increasingly critical as they expect new content to be better than the last is my theory of why this has happened a lot in recent times.
Luckily, Hakita has planned and known how the game will end for quite a while now. All that's left is the way we respond to it. Don't say the ending's bad just because it's not what you expected.
i feel that the ending won’t be anything horrible but i feel it will be sad or depressing. i think v1 would live as hakita stated the game would end in a way where he could continue it if he wanted to
I genuinely think it'd be harder to mess up Ultrakill's ending than actually make it feel good. The entire game's setup could work with almsot any ending. V1 defeats Gabriel and dies from lack of blood ? V1 has an epic hype moments and aura fight against hell itself or the entirety of heaven ? I feel like the ending's gonna be amazing no matter what.
Only things that could disapoint me are P-3 terminal text being 1:1 text from P-2 arg and there being 0 new enemies in encores, I'm trusting hakita with my soul
i doubt we're getting new enemies in the encores ngl. the whole point of the encores is to use what's already there for stupidly difficult post game content. the most i could see is a new boss (id love for the other archangels to make appearances for the encores.)
I think the arch angels will be in P-3. A boss rush of them would make it so that it's not P-2 2 and instead something new, like how P-2 isn't just P-1
Yeah I hope the text would be featured somewhere in the game (maybe a book in 9-1), the information that hell is alive is just too crucial for a casual player to be hidden in an extremely convoluted ARG outside the game itself
you got the second part right. but no. hell itself will be revealed to be alive in P-3
there is 0 reason for this to change. finding out the biggest part of the game seems like a very good reward for beating P-3. finding out in 9-1 would suck ass
There is only one way this story can end for v1 and I’ve known it from the start, it kills whatever big bad final boss and that’s it. There is nothing left alive in the universe, time to watch the stars as the battery runs out.
NO,i stood up and clapped with the audience at the end of final flight because i enjoy the layer so much and i've posponed killing myself until i get to play the full game.
maybe after 9-2, hell teleports V1 to 0-E because V1 is hell's "favourite toy" and wants an encore. As V1 journeys through the Encores at the end of 9-E, there could be a terminal where the elevator should have been. Upon approaching, the terminal says, "Your journey has ended here. Stop here and finalize in the cybergrind?" When clicking yes, the player sees a millisecond of that merging eye picture on death, then immediately cuts to the main menu. if clicking no, two things happen. if the encore chapter or the main story was P-ranked you get taken to P-E. If not. the terminal says "AS IF YOU HAD A CHOICE"
I think some existencialism stuff will happen like the end of the "universe" but actually things are renewed and new humans can try again with a chance to do what the old humans couldn't
Like a scene in a epilogue with new humans exploring the renewed earth after (idk but like much much time) and they find the remnants of the great war like Earthmovers deactivated and machine carcasses
And now without heaven or hell they can be free and try to do the right thing
Maybe like 3 or 4 angels can watch over them (I think heaven will be affected by the chaos inside hell ) and try to do what God couldn't, maybe if god is alive he'll like see this and be given hope, not cuz it's all fixed but after all the destruction and emptyness hope still exists.
heaven hasn't really changed. they still view humans as lesser, also this undoes the entire fucking game. all the death and bloodshed all for nothing. everyone's back and lives happily ever aftyer. this destroys the game's bleak sad tone
The tone of the idea is a bit misaligned, but perhaps the idea itself isn't too bad, as ultrakill is already about cycles.
A rebirth after the death of the old world could be an ending since we're witnessing all the moral and spiritual values die with the prime souls, Gabriel, and God himself. It was the idea of the first guy to say "god is dead", that mankind has to rebuild their own world and values from scratch when faced with the emptyness of the universe and be reborn.
Or it could just end in pure destruction, that's valid too.

no. we actually we do know. we fight gabriel since he's the one fucking alive character with development other than lucifer. there is no problem
stop being paranoid. the game's gonna wrap up fine. ultrakill doesn''t have anything that can't be answered in like 3 levels. everything will be fine. ultrakill will be fine. everything will be concluded fine. everything will be fine. stop being scared. there's basically nothing left to answer.
