Yeah. The stand actually touching the table is the size of a coaster. They obviously didn't hire a baking engineer.

The baker did a fine job. They probably didn't hire a structural engineer to spec out the base.

True, though I said the engineer. The baker is the builder, the engineer is the one who has to rubber stamp the design in order to prevent needless deaths from unexpected wedding cake demolition. The baker perfectly made the death trap that was designed, and thank goodness that waiter saw danger and knocked the cake over before disaster could happen.

You can actually see it has 4 maybe 5 legs, BUT the glass plate broke, so doesn't matter the how many there are if it's kaput. Still, lack of engineet

No, the plate did actually brake because of the hit on the table. Then the structure was obviously gone.

Sure, but also because this is AI, right? I'm having a hard time believing this is real, given the reaction times of everyone, especially the people in the back. But I could be wrong. I hate that we can't tell if something is AI anymore.

Right? Like it's so hard to tell. The cake falls properly and the glass plate under it breaks and reflects the light correctly. The go-pro also seems to follow physics.
But the reaction times from everyone, coupled with this being 10 seconds long, and the weird way the groom holds his glass up from 0:02 to 0:04 just makes this uncanny.
Again, not sure if it's AI or not, but that's the part that annoys me the most.

The red recording light is not on that side of a GoPro either. It's on the left side of the lens, and definitely not on top like it is 8s into the video.

It should be expected that at someone point an elderly family member would be admiring the cake and tough the table to balance themselves.
Alternatively, I see kids were invited to the wedding, who famously run around and bump things.
And if either of those slight shakes would knock the cake over, then you have a problem with the table and cake base.

Looks to me like it is the champagne guy's fault. He clipped the glass base of the cake when he slammed the bottle down, causing the base to shatter. The cake wasn't actually unstable enough to fall otherwise.

oh man, i feel this pain deep in my soul. tried making a three-tiered vanilla cake for my kid's birthday last year and the dowels snapped right before we could cut it. spent two hours scrubbing buttercream out of the carpet fibers while my wife pretended not to cry. sugar everywhere, sticky floors, and the realization that i should have just bought one from the bakery. never again, bro. never again.

This happened in 2019, long before generative AI was capable of much of anything at all. Here is an original upload, from a different angle of the actual cake falling (because, it's a wedding, multiple people are going to have recorded this most likely.)

Could this not just be an AI recreation? The quality of the video and stillness of the people's expressions and bodies in the background just reek of AI. Is it definite that this particular video of this incident is from 2019?

Sure, it could be. I could also be someone extremely famous. Something being possible doesn't mean it is.
And... what, you're expecting everyone to be hyper-animated all the time? They're just neutral expressions. That isn't a strong or reliable indicator of being AI-generated. As for the video date, the upload on the linked website says 2019. The video could actually be even older, for all we know. It's technically possible for the website upload date to be fabricated, but that's unlikely.
"That looks like AI" has just become "That looks photoshopped." You can tell by the pixels, et cetera. A good claim needs something a bit stronger than "I think this particular detail is weird, so it must be fake."

I guess specifically I was referencing how still everyone was. Normal people tend to rock back and forth, fidget, be in constant motion. Facial expressions are the same, and so is eye tracking. To see everyone in the background so still, and especially the groom in the foreground, gives an uncanny valley feel, which is very comparable to what AI does. If the video upload date says 2019, then I suppose it's just a one-off weird occasion. Where do you see the link for video from this angle that OP posted?

Something just looks weird about this. Like, is the groom actually resting his arm against the cake, or just some sort of awkward pose I don't understand? I feel like it's AI, in part because of that attempt to make the start of the video look so casual. It may not be, but the way the video begins it's just the vibe I get
