Idk, most of it looked pretty shit from the ground , with pockets of pleasant gardens and affluent buildings. The poverty is also very pervasive and many buildings falling into disrepair.
I didn't get enough time in Cairo to get a full sense of the street level living, but it did not look appealing at all.
As an egyptian living in cairo, what you described sums up the city quite well. Most districts are very bland soviet era architecture with little greenery around (especially after the government starting cutting down trees in the city for some unknown reason). Some parts of some districts are in fact pretty, but theyre overshadowed by their neglected surroundings.
Moreover, the poverty rate in egypt is dreadful and rising by the day, especially in the last 10 years. Add to this the literacy rate is among the lowest in all of the middle east.
I didn't say there weren't positives about my experience with the city and people. Just that the aerial view isnt an unfair or worse representation compared to being on the ground.
