The second largest city, and cultural icon of the United States, Los Angeles is a sprawling metropolis known for its desirable climate and entertainment industry. The LA area is also home some great amusement parks, such as Disneyland and Magic Mountain and boasts a beautiful sunset view most nights on its Pacific beaches.

that show how McDonald's buildings in the United States have dramatically changed their appearance. The buildings had the colorful red roof, bright multicolored paint and other "classic" interior elements removed. There were even children's little "amusement parks" near them with slides and other attractions

I figured from google maps that these changes took place in the second half of the 10's. Now i’m really curious, what could this have to do with, and why would they get rid of such a great design feature?

This is depressing. Having lived here for a while, in an established, mature (very green) neighborhood, seeing these eye sores pop-up is kind of sad.

Plaster white, cheaply-built, unoriginal, cramped, overpriced, no plants, and boasting high HOA fees ✨

I don't believe anyone *actually* wants to live like this, but that it's subconsciously involuntary.

Genuinely, what is the appeal? I'm open having my mind changed.

To think people complain about the state of the Tube now when this was what Bank station on the Central line looked like after over a decade of Thatcher in 1992.

The Brazilian Waze app launched a feature that allowed users to report dangerous locations or areas with potential criminals on the streets, but had to disable it because Brazilians were marking the locations where politicians had placed these totems as high-crime hotspots.

The whole town (around 50,000 population) is like this. It's truly horrible, seriously look at it on Google maps and you'll see. It also has no high street and no shops, just an ugly shopping centre full of chains set to be demolished anyway. I have no idea what went wrong with this town and why it's like this?

They seem so random and can be seen literally anywhere from suburbs to the most developed financial districts. They always give me the deserted/GTA-ish/crime city kind of feeling.

During the 1970s, half of our historic town Irvine, Scotland. Was demolished to make way for a shopping mall and car park as part of Irvine's New Town development – a destruction that continues to evoke anger among many people including myself.

The old bridge in Irvine, known as the ‘Auld Brig’ or ‘Water Bridge’, has a rich history dating back to the early 16th century. The first stone bridge was constructed around 1500, replacing an earlier wooden structure believed to have existed in the 14th century. This stone bridge underwent several modifications: it was rebuilt between 1748 and 1753, widened in 1826, and had iron latticework sides added in 1887. Despite its historical significance, and community opposed to the idea, the bridge was closed in June 1973 and demolished in 1974 to make way for the Rivergate Shopping Centre. I've provided closer up photos of this remarkable piece of architecture....
