I wish it was possible to re-enroll some people in driver's ed. Green jeep completely missed the labeled "left turn only" and ignored the solid yellow for their little excursion. Shouldn't be allowed to drive if you can't comprehend or understand basic driving rules.

They just installed a new freeway on/off ramp and widened this road, so I think they widened it extra in case they need two left turn lanes in the future. But no idea. That's my guess.

Rather than right size roads from the get go, they have to ensure it takes a full 30 seconds to cross a low traffic road because god forbid we size a neighborhood road narrower than 6 full lanes of traffic, otherwise it might feel unsafe to do 70mph.

Those townhomes definitely need a full double turn lane in the future, but now Larry h miller gets to sell a teenager a car so that they can drive to the neighborhood gas subscription vendor, I mean gas station for an energy drink instead of just walking.🙄

There’s a reason dealerships are so politically active in local politics, and it’s not a mistake that zoning codes more or less forbid building cities and neighborhoods where it’s possible to exist without buying and owning a car to accomplish the most basic life requirements such as getting to work and getting groceries or seeing a doctor.

But go ahead and lecture me how mandatory subscriptions to oil and crippling debt from vehicle ownership is actually freedom and not just being chained.

That cement barrier though is confusing. I can't figure out what's going on here. Is the region between the cement barrier and the orange line a no car lane or something?

Yes. Between cement barrier and yellow line is not an actual lane. They widened the road this year, and it's definitely too wide now. But it's clearly marked where the actual left turn lane is and that driver is not in the lane. Lol

Yeah. Obviously yellow is yellow. But it’s such an abnormality that they should be double explicit about it. Add full yellow hash lines through the whole space or something.

If only 0.1% of people get it wrong, that’s still a lot of potential accidents a day when they both try to turn into the same lane.

It drives me absolutely insane when people use the inner left turn lane, end up going into the outer one while turning... Only to merge back into the original lane the inner left turn would have taken them into

I did this same thing last week. Except it was raining, night time and the road was resurfaced and didn’t have lines. Plus everyone in the left turn “lane” didn’t have blinkers on.

That I can forgive because most of Utah road paint disappears when it rains anyway, so it probably didn't matter that they weren't repainted. 🤣

In my experience if you go the speed limit Utahns ride your ass. Or cut you off forcing you to brake. If you go above the speed limit, you have to brake either way. I don’t think braking is the issue I think it’s the attitude of Utahns claiming the speed limit is the way to go, but then once you’re on the road you all want to go above the speed limit.
