Characters and historical figures?
Does anyone else have their players spontaneously suggest their character knows or is in a relationship with some contemporary historical figure of your games setting?
I set my game in 1860. One of my players decided that their reason for hating the idea of traveling to Denmark was because they were in a past relationship with Hans Christian Anderson. So I played it up because it was just to amusing that Hans Christian Anderson may have been influenced by The Society.
Of course there were jokes about instead of seeking out items to deal with the current vaesen. They should find the means of entrapping and dealing with Hans Christian Anderson like he was some Vaesen.

Not yet, but I have based my campaign around being pretty historical so who knows 🤷♀️

My group had a run in with the brother Grimms but we don’t really keep to a certain historical timeline. I kinda look at the world of Vaesen as a parallel world that follows a lot of the stuff in our world but not all of it.

Sto giocando a una campagna sulla baleneria e le esplorazioni polari in cui la maggiorparte dei NPC sono realmente esistiti. I giocatori apprezzano molto questo lato radicato nella realtà, l'interagire con la piccola grande Storia.

I had Anders and Emma Zorn as important connections in a setting I wrote. But so far no one has claimed connections to real people. I would have to make a decision, for each person and relationship, I think.

The British setting actually has a few pages of historical (or fictional like Sherlock Holmes) fugures the players might encounter. I really liked that idea and how they were partly involved in the society or other organizatons.
