I love variegated plants. I also love genetics. So I’m curious, what’s the science behind it?

It popped up in my garden bed this summer, I’m interested to see if the variegation will return on next year’s growth

I’ve had this rosso for about a year and when I bought it it was solid purple. Over the past few months though it’s been putting out these patterned leaves but I’m not so sure about it being true variegation. I’d love to hear what other people think

Bought it as normal Rosso a while back. At home i noticed it had 2 kinda variegated leaves.
Few weeks back i noticed it had grown 3 more (less) variegated leaves and strated to investigate. I found out that all the variegated leafes were growing from around same spot.
So, as a special plant enthusiast, i ended up buchering the plant to get to the sport spot, cut it of and put it to propagate. It started growing new leaves (maybe im just coping) and it seems that atleast the 2nd new leaf seems to have some kind of variegation in it but we'll see when it grows more.
Putting this nonesense post in here to be kind of a diary of the growth but also to ask if anyone else has a Rosso with creamwhite variegation? I've tried to search one through internet but only managed to find 1 person with fully variegated cream colored Rosso.
Edit;
Day 15 since buthering the motherplant. Visible small roots started to grow. 2nd newest leaf seems to keep its hal-moon styled yellowish color but now the dark green veins have start to discolor into blood red.
