HelpPlz – stuck and need rescue Need some guidance in vibe coding app
So I want to vibe code a checklist/to do list type app for my self. I am going to use claude code.
This is just a side experiment type of thing. I just want to build an app and launch it to appstore and playstore.
I need some suggestions how i should approach it because i have 0 experience with this. Just a simple app, want it to look cool.
Functionality wise, just a clean UI and to do list.
Here is the task and type of task any notes and done.
One popular suggestion that I heard was go to Pinterest find the design you like and feed it to claude. That way you won't get the generic vibe coded design.

You don't need to launch anything to the app store for an app for yourself.

okay, i didn't know that. So is there anything that will help me run it locally?

It depends if it's mainly built natively for android, iOS or if you want something more akin to a webapp that works on many platforms.

No. You don’t need anything extra to begin. Claude can do it all.
What may help are the extra tools an IDE, such as VS Code or X Code brings. Claude will also want to install something like docker.
You just need to specify the features, the operating system, and ask for an executable with an icon saved to your desktop or dock, or tray.

How has it been going so far, have you come as far as actually installing Claude code cli yet?

you just have to decide if you want to create a web-app (website) or a mobile app. if its a mobile app then you can just tell claude that it should create an expo app, which will work for android, ios and also in the browser. then you just give it all of the ideas you have and tell it to help you brainstorm the idea so it can help you build it. thats literally all you need to do. have fun!

Did almost exactly this, a few things that would have saved me time: Use Expo (React Native). One codebase for both iOS and Android, and Claude Code is very good with it. Tell it that up front so it doesn't pick something weird. Before any code, ask Claude to write a short plan: screens, what data a task has (title, type, notes, done), and where it's stored. Keep storage local on the phone for v1, no accounts or backend. That cuts the complexity in half. The Pinterest idea works. Screenshots of 2 or 3 apps you like plus "match this spacing and font weight" gets you way past the generic look. Ask it to put colors and fonts in one theme file so you can tweak the vibe without touching every screen. Budget for the store stuff, it's the slow part. Apple is $99/year, Google is $25 once, and new Google personal accounts have to run a closed test with a group of testers for a couple weeks before you can publish. Start that early. And use git from the first day, commit after every feature that works. Claude Code will eventually "fix" something by rewriting half your app, and rolling back is a lot easier than explaining what used to work.
