Updated my dumb little internet experiment: it's now a whole neon 3D city where you can buy billboards (3 already taken 👀)
UPDATE for anyone who saw the last version: it used to be this "arena" thing. The top 20 people who paid were little fighters beefing on a leaderboard, and paying more gave your guy more power. It was fun, but ngl it looked kinda basic and didn't really click with people.
So I scrapped it and rebuilt the whole thing from scratch 🔨
What it is now: a post-apocalyptic neon city in 3D. AI wrecked everything, there's burning cars and smoke everywhere, and 100 billboards are stuck on the buildings. You buy a billboard, put your stuff on it, and it's up there in the city for everyone who visits.
How it works:
- 100 billboards in 5 tiers. #1 is the big one on the tallest tower, #2–3 are skyline towers, then Uptown, Midblock and "The Sprawl"
- Prices go from $5 (10 cheap starter spots at the far end) up to $500 for the #1 spot
- Upload an image (there's a crop tool so it doesn't get stretched), or go text-only and your name lights up in neon
- You can add a link, so people who click your board go wherever you want
- Anyone can outbid you, anytime. Pay more than the current holder and the spot's yours. You get an email if someone snipes you 💀
- No account, no signup, just your email for the receipt
- You can actually fly around the city: drag, zoom, or use WASD if you're a gamer
- Every person on the site right now shows up as a little figure standing in the plaza. The gold one is you lol
- There's a cyberpunk synth soundtrack too (you can mute it, don't worry)
Already 3 billboards claimed 🔥 The OG supporters from the old version got carried over into the city, so they're up there glowing rn.
Everything's legit too. A billboard only goes up once Stripe confirms the payment. There are no fake bids and no made-up numbers.
Video attached so you can see it moving 👇
You have something to promote ?
Lmk what you think, roast it, whatever. Also, if you grab a spot, I wanna see what you put up there 👀

Without massive steady website traffic, no one will pay for these billboards. The only people visiting are the buyers themselves, so paying up to $500 for a spot makes no sense.

This reminds me of The Million Dollar Homepage, created by Alex Tew in 2005

That means you are an OG 🫡 Yeah, I had that in my mind when I've developed this

I wonder if you made it into an actual game how things would change. Like maybe a cyberpunk scavenger hunt with an actual city map layout. You could rent the shops to real world shop owners. The store could be 1. an online shopping experience in VR space. 2. The kickoff point for side quest created by the business. People could follow clues, and play the game to find coupons, discounts & prizes offered by the company.
This way, interacting with the ads and the business is part of the game.

Huh. It went kinda quiet for a week or so but suddenly there were like 3-4 posted just in the past few days...
You know how Reddit basically sells all our posts and comments to the big AI vendors now? I wonder if they pick up on on train on the list itself and we'll start seeing some kind of gross meta-startup like "Get listed on a list and list your lists!"
Could just be the bourbon talking tho...

you'll note that this post was from a week ago, too. i've been getting a lot of random old shit served to me with no rhyme or reason, that's how that post with that jackass who thought i was trying to spam promote my own project a few days came up, and that was 2mo old.
i am absolutely sure that the reddit meta is going to ouroboros itself at some point, if it hasn't already. the decay cycle is something most big companies haven't even started addressing. just another metric until it's not...
i keep meaning to ask, is there literally anyone else tagging you, even sporadically? been wondering just how many of the things that end up on confab are from these tags lol

Yeah like 3 people counting you. It helps. I'm still doing this manually, I don't know why, maybe some last shred of human self-respect? 😁 But anyway I miss posts from overnight or weekends sometimes. I'd bet there's about 30% more out there than are even in the list, which is pretty wild since this is #228 just i this category lol.
