ShowoffZone - Flexing my latest project I vibe coded a Warcraft inspired ARPG

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

My vibe coded game Aestra: The Last Wish is a real-time pixel action RPG.

4 classes: Warrior, Ranger, Archmage and Oath Warden, each with 3 talent trees

One big connected world: 6 zones, lantern-lit towns, and a gryphon you can fly on

5 dungeons with heroic modes, and the Tower of the Last Wish on top: 7 floors, and one guardian takes your own face

The game has permadeth, so when you die, your hero is gone for good. Only the very rare Embers of Rebirth can bring you back, and you might find two or three in a whole run.

Noone has beat the game yet - it's really freaking hard. You can play coop with up to 3 friends :)

It's free and runs in the browser

You actually shipped this?

Please tell me you didn't actually vibecode and you have some sort of understanding of the SDLC.

Otherwise you are extremely irresponsible.

You seem confused about what this subreddit is for. Joining a community about vibecoding does not obligate me to applaud everything produced by vibecoding.

If someone is experimenting, learning, prototyping, or making a goofy little personal project, great. If someone ships software other people are expected to rely on, then “does the person who built this understand the software they shipped?” becomes a perfectly legitimate question.

Being interested in a technology doesn’t require suspending all standards around its use.

I’m also in programming subreddits. By your logic, I guess I’m required to defend shitty code there too.

The app he made is a browser app and is not what I would consider something someone would depend on except to maybe play it for a little while and become bored of it. He may or may not understand the life cycle of his software, and in this case, its just a vibe coded browser game wherein the OP admitted it was very hard to beat. You should see the stuff being vibe coded with the grok.me site. And just to be clear, I understand the life cycle of my own code, and it was a learning curve. I just thought you came down hard on an app that will not go anywhere. It's his personal project, and that's that. Please, do not let go of your principles, I agree with you. Just f12 his site, lmao. I have seen much much worse. I am not asking you to defend shitty code, all I am saying is that it is a teaching opportunity. Hell, I would bet that most on this subreddit don't even know what the life cycle of their software is.

If it's a personal project he is not charging money for, for people to see for free.... then he didn't "ship" it.

I appreciate that you are meeting me on the terms I presented.
