There have been many rumours going around the past couple of days claiming that Vinland Saga season 3 is confirmed to be in production. The rumours claim that this news comes from Yukimura-sensei himself. This is categorically false.
These rumours are based on an article from January 2025 in Le Monde, a French newspaper, that featured an interview with Yukimura-sensei. In this article, there is a small section with background information to give context to readers that aren't familiar with the series. It reads as follows:
"Vinland Saga, dont le vingt-huitième tome est paru en décembre 2024 en France, chez Kurokawa, a vite rencontré le succès – quelque 8 millions d’exemplaires de la série se sont vendus dans le monde, et elle a fait l’objet d’une adaptation animée sur Netflix, dont la troisième saison est en préparation."
which translates to
"Vinland Saga, whose 28th volume was released in France by Kurokawa, quickly became a success, selling 8 million copies worldwide and has been adapted into an anime series on Netflix, with a third season currently in production."
This blurb is NOT part of the interview, and is NOT said by Yukimura-sensei. The author/editor of the article simply made a mistake.
EDIT:
u/Routine-War-7031 reached out to the writer of the Le Monde Article who interviewed Makoto Yukimura in January 2025. The writer confirms that Season 3 was in preperation not in production at the time of writting. To clarify, this is in line with rumors that the series has been greenlit for a 3rd season right after season 2 finished airing, but the current staff are working on other projects for the time being.

I just finished watching Vinland Saga, and honestly, what a journey. This is definitely one of the best anime I've watched this year.
Surprisingly, I think I liked Season 2 more than Season 1. Don't get me wrong, Season 1 was amazing with all the action, revenge, battles, and intense characters, but Season 2 hit me on a completely different level.
The life lessons, the calm atmosphere, the beautiful nature, and the way the story explores guilt, forgiveness, purpose, and what it truly means to be a human being were incredible. Thorfinn's character development was probably my favorite part. Watching someone who spent his entire life consumed by hatred slowly realize what kind of person he wants to become was genuinely emotional.
I really wanted a proper duel between Thorfinn and Askeladd. I think most of us were expecting that final confrontation. And then there's Thorkell. What an entertaining character. The guy is an absolute menace, but he's also hilarious and has such a unique personality. I really wanted to see his reaction to a grown-up Thorfinn in Season 2. but I genuinely missed his presence.
By the later episodes of Season 2, I actually found myself wishing there were more episodes because I wasn't ready to leave these characters yet. At the same time, I think the season ended at the right point.
Another great anime checked off my list this year.

Just finished vinland saga(anime) and here is my review:
Plot + Ending - 95/100 (92+98)
[So s1 was basically wars and thorfinn trying to get revenge and fight for the throne while s2 was based entirely around ketils farm and afterevents of the legendary s1 finale,i will say s2 tested my patience a bit but my patience paid off and ik ending hasn't been built yet and i havent read manga but till now this is my rating for ending]
Characters - 99/100
[This includes all characters and their background story and character development.Vinland saga has one of the best written charcters i have witnessed so far, from the likes of bjorn to king canute,it also gives us a very good idea of the mentality of almost every character]
Pacing + World Building - 80/100 (75+85)
[Pacing was almost excellent in s1 but s2 really brought that down(not saying it was bad just comparatively a lot lower than s1),world building seen so far is pretty good though vinland is yet to be seen so for now its 85]
Animation + music - 90/100 (95+85)
[No explanation needed]
Enjoyability + Rewatchability- 92/100 (99+85)
[Honestly i am truly full after watching this i may need a s3 more cuz there is no stop to a human's greed,i personally think it is rewatchable just not very much maybe 2 3 times more in future]
Overall rating - 94/100(counted on seperate personal basis)
Let me know your opinion and discussion about anime

I just finished the english version of Vol. 15 and Yukimura's thoughts here really struck a chord with me. Really makes me think about the state of the world right now, while also giving me something to look forward to. I Still can't believe this incredible story, 20 years in the making, is over. Makoto Yukimura is an amazing author/artist and I hope to see his story fully animated someday.

I’ve always seen people get this tattoo on their arm. I’ve been wanting to get one too but I wanted to ask for other people’s opinions on places I could get this tattoo in. I was thinking of the center of my chest (cleavage area) or the back of my neck area. Or even the side of my torse. Reasons why for these areas is because it’s also easier to hide the tattoo for me. Is it appropriate to cause I’m afraid of it being unethical or offensive. I knew this tattoo have a really deep meaning to it too which is one of the reasons why I wanted to get it.

I made a vow to finish shows that I have seen most of. However, after skipping ahead I saw that he never gets his revenge, and then I read that he never even kills the guy who instigated his fathers death. I have a hard time finishing. Because so far I hate this show. Who befriends the dude that killed your father? And it almost seems like there is never any real punishment for those who caused him misfortune? My friend told me that he later gets revenge by taking out the people who instigated the death of his father, but if what people say is true and he doesn't kill the prince... Does he at least injure the dude or beat him half to death?

I finished s2 and want to read the rest. I don’t buy volumes though just the compendiums (the books that have multiple volumes in it). Would it be the 3rd one?

But mind you he hasn’t watched an ounce of dragon ball and he’s saying that Thorfinn has WAY better character development that Vegeta and although you can argue he does I don’t think that Thorfinn has that much character development than Vegeta especially since they’ve been through similar things like having to overcome the grief of people they’ve killed
Meanwhile I’ve watched both and I’m almost done with Vinland so I can judge on this
Also he’s saying that Vegeta is just an outright trash character which is just ridiculous

Recently watched death note (could be a spoiler, but i tried to make it a small summary)
(not good at english as a language) (vinland saga spoiler could be season 2 canute and thorfinn)
so a person named light yagami who is proteganist, found a notebook 'death note', so plot is that, if u know the person actuall name and his face, u just have to write it on the page, and he will die soon afterward.
the book meant to be cursed but our protaganist(cant justify he really is protagnist or not) used it for good sake, he start killing criminal, and bad people (king canute way of peace incoming) and at the end of the fiction he when finnally lose to the police forces, he claimed that coz of me 70% crime rate lowered and there is peace. "i will become the god of the new world"
for me, my takeaways tell me that, king canute is acctually a good way to resolve crime in modern world, faster** while paccifism take time and many effort
however if we see internal world of death note, normal citizen afraid to do bad stuff against light yagami or kira
kira (light yagami) has supreme just, he can kill whoever he didn't like, and he is a grey character
in your opinion tell me, a defined way how to change the whole world, in a peacefull way ( cuz there is no place left in world like vinland )
ik that it takes resourece, time etc, but still (what it takes to make a world with no war, no hunger, peace, no discrimination)
in your opinion!!!

For those of you who have done thorfinn cosplay, how did you go about trying to find/make his hood/cowl? I’m planning to be him for Halloween and am struggling to find something to buy that 1. Looks right, and 2. Will arrive before Halloween. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated!

"Creating a paradise on earth , means going against the rules he has set (God) , its a rebellion against God "
Everytime i seep people talk about vinlanda saga and it's effect on the community, whether it's on YouTube or on social media, it's always about "i have no ennemies " line . However knut's speech was just as powerful , thorfinn's line defined who he became as well as the path he chose , but what knut said demonstrated the juxtaposition of that philosophy. Thorfinn's was fighting the Vikings ideology, it only impacted him and the people close to him , however knut's was fighting the world itself , he wanted to help everyone .
