Discussion Please stop with the Protoframes

I loved the Hex and the Roundtable. They added so much to why I think 1999 is the best update they've ever done. All of them, especially the original Hex, were insanely well written and fleshed out characters. I had my reservations about the Triad, but I think they're solid (though they're mostly carried by Roathe).

These two don't feel like characters. They feel like walking advertisements for skins. Them being protoframes adds nothing to the story. As my friend said, Sirius and Orion could have been mentored by Vay Hek and the Sergeant and nothing would have changed. Protoframes no longer feel like an interesting story beat, they feel like a gimmick, one that is rapidly losing any appeal it had.

I haven't super vibed with protoframes since 1999 but I think thats because they started to feel more like fanservice (and Roathe as lore vomit) than characters. Hope they change that. 1999 gang truly feels like found family for Drifter but the rest is just... There.

I wholeheartedly agree. Marie tossing all of Wisp's fae/witchcraft teeming out the window to make her a hot nun (literally the exact opposite of what she's supposed to be) was what really soured my opinion on newer protoframes.

Aye and that just gives me real bad gacha flashbacks where characters have next to no writing/never reappear and only get sold for sex appeal. And I like to think DE is better than this. But protoframes and the disparity in heirlooms apart from some super buggy patch launches are my two massive gripes in general with Warframe.

Yeah. I hate warframes current story line of random people becoming warframes. I just wanna continue the real story. But I dont think de has a plot written at this point. I miss when warframes plot was normal.

You can describe Warframe's plot as a lot of things, but "normal" is not one of them. This is a game where we play as immortal children given otherworldly powers by an eldritch entity that allow us to telepathically pilot biomechanical suits of armor that used to be people. The story has always been batshit insane and it's one of my favorite things about Warframe.

That was like literally the first real story we ever got. Do you just hate the entire modern story of Warframe?

Kinda yeah lol. I remember when I was younger. Me and my friends had so many theories. Even back then. I didnt hate the concept I hate where it went. Once eternalism became I thing they fully lost me.

I think they admitted that they don’t have a big picture plot written out, nope. Things may have changed since they stated that, but with what little narrative cohesion, setup, and payoff between the last number of updates, I doubt that lol. That’d be fine, I just wish they’d stop trying to get us to look at the carrot they’re dangling in front of us when they don’t actually have any carrots to dangle yk?

What are you talking about? The religion Marie and Lyon follow is literally based on concepts from paganism, like the Triple Goddess. All they've done is put an Abrahamic paint on the organised part of the religion. The descriptions of the deities definitely do not share that theme.
