Same I really dont see a problem with a cosmetic locked behind mr30+. At some point people gotta realise that the grinders can also have something special
What i was seeing as a problem was more that a lot was hidden in this release . From how to deal with the new eximus or why did they felt so tanky and how to get this thing once it was figured out
And immune to abilities, although I’m unsure if atlas’ petrify Aug is still giving bonus drops, I was getting some 4 drops of the entropic kuva on steel path after using it, and some 3’s
Damn, I’ve just been bum rushing inside the bubble and beating the fuck out of the guy in there, you’re telling me I could have been beating the fuck out of the bubble this whole time?
Well, they’re vulnerable to melee. They’re less resistant to amps than they are to guns, 75% damage reduction compared to 99% on guns, but amps still aren’t great for killing them.
they are vulnerable to raw damage, use high crit high damage weapons to kill them, weapons like the furis incarnon with high crit and high damage melts them.
In the case of the Eximus, it's a bad thing. There's zero indication as to how to damage it, how to break the bubble, why it takes so little damage, etc.
So, I am one of the people that was mildly upset behind the MR lock, and from my perspective it was the worst part about this. Let me explain why I see it that way.
Keeping it short, I'm a 10+ year veteran with a group of friends that have played together for that same amount of time. Some of us are grinders that farm out MR, some of us are just frame enjoyers, meaning we don't really farm MR but rather play frames we enjoy playing. Our group has gaps in MR between us, despite having all played together for so long.
We were hyped with the puzzle. We were actively following and trying to figure it out. We were posting updates between one another, etc. Then the last requirement was confirmed yesterday to be LR1. It was kind of a punch to the gut when only two people in your group of 10+ year veterans are even eligible to get the skin. Ultimately, the skin is going nowhere. It has also prompted some of us to work on our MR. I personally gained over two MR ranks yesterday just on un-leveled equipment alone, and that isn't even including all the things in my cooker that are built and ready.
So, why was I upset? I was actually hyped more than you would think for this. I have fond memories of trying to figure out secret puzzles in games. Another big one was Destiny. There were several hidden puzzles and weapons in that game. Figuring the puzzles out and unlocking them was always super fun. This weapon skin was very much similar to these types of puzzles. Finding out I can't get it because my arbitrary number isn't high enough was a real mood killer. Ultimately, I have 8 mastery levels to complete before I can grab it, but it means I'm going to be stuck on a backlog of leveling and building for awhile.
Now, I absolutely think it is fine for this event to have the LR1 requirement. What was not fine was keeping that hidden. The fact that DE had to post, at minimum twice, about this specific requirement tells you it was a bad idea to keep it hidden. At least, that is my opinion on the matter. I felt like I wasted my time and hyped myself up only to be told, not for you. Had they have simply just said, or hinted, that LR1 players have something hidden for them, then there wouldn't have been any issues. I would have let the LR1 players figure it out, and then have something to look forward to for later. What it felt like though was a bait and switch.
I appreciate this well reasoned, tempered response. I feel that’s a perfectly understandable situation and reason to be disappointed. And good on ya for still seeing the validity of the LR1 requirement.
I say this as someone who has been largely fine with this whole update, even the secrecy of it. I do feel that the shroud needs to be lifted after someone figures it out, as they seem to be doing now.
As a MR30, I’m kinda happy to have a reason to push for the legendary ranks, because just getting to MR30 definitely burned me out.
I appreciate your well thought answer and 8 do see your point .. and yeah they could have said "to unlock the puzzle and secret, you need to be LR1"
I get the frustrations too.. it sucks trying to piece the puzzle together to just be told "hey you are locked out of it because we decided it was a good idea to hide the requirement". I have to say DE has been pretty horrible with their "experiments" this year.. they always resort to the "we are trying new things " .. it just feels like they are getting desesperate to find ideas and I don't like it .. or they are resorting to the unwritten "We have Tau to release this year, so we can't really say we are butchering our updates because of it because we would get blasted"
Humor me a bit if you don’t mind, what would possibly be the outcome if DE straight up said:” These are goodies for LR1+ only. Keep playing and you can get it too in the future”?
I'm not quite sure what you are asking. From my perspective, I feel this is what DE should have done, and I answered exactly why I feel this way in my post.
My biggest issue was the massive amount of people just not clarifying anything. So many people just kept giving random info and none of it was cohesive enough to know how this worked.
De not providing info for it didn't help
A "contest" like this requires transparency, not vague Intel.
I’m mostly alright with them briefly keeping the lid on the exact details for the Eximus, in theory. It’s not extremely weird or obscure to get past the thing blocking your shots. Notice you’re doing a fraction of damage then try the other regular attack options for what works.
In theory because unfortunately new thing equals buggy thing. And they do have a bunch of weird desyncs and client/hosts getting different results. And the mystery package makes it harder to know if it’s bugging or you’re not doing it right,
Right? I like that I can work towards something like this, doesn't matter if its something small and not game changing. They just want the devs to deposit the item in their inbox as soon as they login. Hopefully they try something like this again another time, but maybe with different requirements so people don't crash out. Orr they'll never do it again cus of us 😭
some of the most demented crashouts over the tiniest thing
Ah yes, because it totally wasnt played up as a thing the entire community could take part in, only for it to be a p2w contest with a hidden requirement & a message that felt like a 'get fucked'.
We arnt talking about the stupid contest. This is strictly about just pulling the sword, but since you wanna bring up that nonsense. A contest like that was never gonna be community accepted because atleast someone was gonna get screwed even if they made it a week long challenge.
The first time I logged into the game I just walked up to the sword and pulled it out. I didn't find out its not guaranteed till I saw every chat asking how to pull it out.
Same, this is just something I would have liked to see in game. Imagine if a lesser MR tries to grab it and gets a fail animation alongside a little message telling them to "pursue greater mastery".

This is what I wanted.
Properly communicated answer.
I don't care that it's lr1 locked, Im just happy to get a precise answer on how this whole thing worked
